TV series or movies like 24 or The Following

I'm looking for TV series or movies similar to 24 or The Following. Main character must be a cop/agent/military personnel, who sometimes breaks the rules and can be both nice and ruthless.

They're a little bit unique as police/detective shows, but the only shows I can think of are Grimm and Person of Interest. Also, the short-lived show Almost Human.

The obvious choice here is Nikita. Made by the same people that made 24.

Dude, definitely check out true detective. Amazing show about a cop trying to catch one serial killer. Very ethereal and atmospheric.
