John Carter like movie?

It's science fiction. Maybe kind of like John Carter but The scene is a guy is in a hut in a desert like area, he escaped from a prison maybe and he was told that it's dangerous out there. Anyways he's in this hut he went to where another guy is and he's trying to save maybe or something.

These creatures rise up all around the hut and he looks outside but doesn't really see anything. They are like these camaflaged creatures, almost like dark crystal creatures. There are many of them and then they attack the hut.

Any idea what that movie might be?
