Help naming a movie.

Tools

It's set in the Victorian era... (I could tell by the dresses). Probably an 80s or 90s flick, but it could be 70s. A man asks a 16 or so year old girl to write for him in a journal or something, while he dictates what to write, and he proceeds to stroke her calves. He lifts up her skirt and kisses her butt, while she has the most suprised look on her face. It cuts to a scene where she's leaving the room, clothes all disheveled, and confides to an older woman (I assume her friend) that she liked it. This was not a porno... but I would call it sexy.

Before you ask, I'm not a pedophile, I'm 18. Just trying to figure out the name because a few friends and I are discussing our early teenage hormonal years.

Any help would be appreciated.

I honestly have no idea. Could be. Was hoping someone could give me a definitive answer.

Yes, it is Quills (2000 - Philip Kaufman), starring Geoffrey Rush as the infamous 18th Century French author and provocateur The Marquis de Sade. Kate Winslet plays the young woman who works at the asylum and becomes intrigued and seduced by de Sade (and is in that scene you're remembering). Michael Caine plays his sadistic and hypocritical jailer and Joaquin Phoenix the sympathetic priest who doesn't approve of what The Marquis writes about but finds the methods of suppression unfair and un-Christian.

Whenever somebody comes to the forum with a question like this (sometimes we get two or three a day, certainly many per week), 99 times out of 100 they make one or maybe three posts, then are never heard from again. Rather than clog our board with the myriad of these 'What's this movie called?' queries, they are quickly relegated to a subforum. That way the original poster can still find it (if they bother to check back), and the regulars don't have to be distracted with it.

Thanks guys, I couldn't find "movie questions" on the forum list. Anyway, quills eh? Coulda sworn it was older, thanks again.

Just read the "quills" summary, and I seem to remember the girl being of a higher social class then maid. I remember near the end of the movie, she's to be married to an older guy, but she's pregnant by the guy who dictated his writing to her, who is now dead. And she tells an old lady, who may have been his mother that she is pregnant with his child.

Maybe I'm mixing up two movies? Maybe it is still quills?

Peacocks?
