I just love Captain Beefheart. I like his work without The Magic Band better. He experimented lots with Frank Zappa. Frank is also cool. Are there anymore Beefheart fans out there? Do you prefer his work with the band or on his own? I love both, but i love his solo more.
Captain Beefheart vs the magic band
I'm only really familiar with a couple of his 'Magic Band' albums, Trout Mask Replica and Safe as Milk. I usually go in for the weird-sounding stuff but with Beefheart I definitely prefer his more accessible rock-oriented music. Safe as Milk is one of my very favorite cds that I own and a few of my favorite songs are Dropout Boogie, Electric Factory and Dachau Blues.
