Delbert Mann

Director Delbert Mann has passed away at 87.

Best known for Marty, and The Bachelor Party, he made several films that I enjoyed with my mom when I was a teenager.

Some favorites: Separate Tables, That Touch of Mink, and Fitzwilly.

Yes, I want to mention that two of his faves for me were the hilarious Doris Day-Rock Hudson battle of the sexes comedy, Lover Come Back (which probably has Tony Randall's most hilarious performance)

and the surprisingly still-powerful The Dark at the Top of Stairs, which has an awesome cast (Robert Preston, Dorothy Maguire, Angela Lansbury, Shirley Knight, Eve Arden).
