It's release date was the same in nine different countries...besides...of the release dates of all major countries, the only one that has a date matching one of the four choices is Singapore, and that was just for the premiere anyway.

I'd heard seven on that HBO (or was it Showtime?) special...hmmm. If someone can find a source I'll be glad to correct it.

And Freddie was never the first pick for the movie. Sam wanted Tobey right off the bat.

IMDB doesn't lie. Sam wasn't the first director in line, though, so Tobey could've been his first choice, even though Prinze might've been offered the role much earlier in development.

I remember reading in an interview that Sam Raimi had no doubts about Toby as Spidey because in extreme close up you can apparantly see that deep down Toby wobes was a good person

He did work for Fang briefly, but Gilliam spent the bulk of his magazine years on one of the four I listed as choices.
