I love this song, and I love its lyrics:

I could stay awake just to hear you breathin’
Watch you smile while you are sleepin’
While you’re far away and dreamin’
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment---forever
Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure

Don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I’d still miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

Lyin’ close to you
Feelin’ your heart beatin’
And I’m wondering what your dreamin’
Wonderin’ if it’s me you’re seein’
Then I kiss your eyes
And thank God we’re together
I just wanna stay with you in this moment forever, forever and ever

I don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I’d still miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

I don’t wanna miss one smile
I don’t wanna miss one kiss
I just wanna be wich you right here with you
Just like this
I just wanna hold you close
A feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment, for all the rest of time
Yeah (yeah) Yeah (yeah) yyyeeeaaahhh.....

Don’t wanna close my eyes
Don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I’ll still miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

I don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
‘Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I’ll still miss you baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing
Don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep yeah
And I don’t wanna miss a thing

Now With Moveable Parts
Hopeless

I hopelessly, helplessly, wonder why
Everything gotta change around me
I'd tell it to your face
But you lost your face along the way
And I'd say it on the phone
If I thought you were alone
Why do things have to change

But you don't need my pictures on your wall
You say you need no one
And you don't need my secret midnight call
I guess you need no one
Is anybody waiting at home for you
Cause it's time that will tell if it's heaven if it's hell or if it's
Anybody waiting at home for you
Cause it's time that will tell this tale

You're in and out up and down
Wonder if you're lost or found
But I got my hands on you
Are you strong enough to tow the line
Are you gonna make me yours
Or do I make you mine
I'm in and out I'm up and down
Wonder if I'm lost or found
But I need your hands on me now

But you don't need my pictures on your wall
You say you need no one
And you don't need my secret midnight call
I guess you need no one
Is anybody waiting at home for you
Cause it's time that will tell if it's heaven if it's hell or if it's
Anybody waiting at home for you
Cause it's time that will tell this tale

I hopelessly, helplessly, wonder why
Everything gotta change

I don't know why...but I listen to this CD and when this certian song comes on...I get all hazey-eyed and I just sit there; soaking this song in. I love it.

Fez Wizardo's Avatar
Um Bungo! Um Bungo!
This train don't stop at the stations of the cross
No reasons left to believe
Trying to stay awake gave yourself a caffeine headache
To hide the taste of sleep

In choosing to forget you cut away the safety net that holds your heart, holds your heart
And you go in search of youth touching up your empire roots
But these days we don't know how to march
Satisfied with a knife in your spine you're bloodless

So tell me again what am I feeling you know me so well
So what am I feeling and how can you tell
I've got a feeling you don't know

We think that we're the ones we're the bright unconquered suns
Wait a while we'll watch the light grow stale
And we smell so very clean but we're the
Oil in this machine and this machine
This machine is going wrong

So choose your sides when it comes to the fight you're bloodless
So tell me again what am I feeling you know me so well
So what am I feeling and how can you tell
I've got a feeling you don't know

You choose your side but in the fight I see your blood run white, your blood run white
And I've seen it all before and I see it again

And I see it again
So what am I feeling you know me so well
So what am I feeling and how can you tell
I've got a feeling you don't know

So tell me again now what am I feeling you know me so well
So what am I feeling and how can you tell
I've got a feeling

So tell me again now what am I feeling you know me so well
So what am I feeling and how can you tell
I've got a feeling you don't know

(could also be considered completely pretentious )

Dying of the Pines

I've lived long enough to see the dead horse
I've lived long enough to cross swamps at night
I've lived long enough to chase a rat
I've lived long enough to take a jet ride

If you see me on an airplane
just make sure and get out of my way

I lived long enough to know the sun will drop
and you ought to leave it lie
to see the dying of the pines

I've lived long enough to kill my first love
I've lived long enough to break in and do harm
I've lived long enough to fly an airplane
I've lived long enough to break a machine

If you see me on an airplane
just make sure and get out of my way

I lived long enough to know the sun will drop
and you ought to leave it lie
to see the dying of the pines

This is by a great modern bluegrassy band called the Gourds; they also did a frickin' hilarious cover of Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice, which is one of the best covers ever made. Think the Dynamite Hack version of Boyz in the Hood, but even funnier, 'cause there's banjos and fiddles involved.

I'm not old, you're just 12.
I've been listening to the new Eminem CD, and while the song "White America" has a lot to say about censorship, free speech, racism, and even Tipper Gore, I'm sure that the censor on this page wouldn't let half of it through.

Eminem is f*cking brilliant. That's all there is to say.

We've downloaded a bunch of songs from this "band" called Atom and His Package (it's just one guy named Adam--who was in this band called Fracture that we saw play in a garage in my hometown--with a synthesizer, much like Wesley Willis, only less insane and even funnier). My favorite of his (and the first one we downloaded) is "Punk Rock Academy," and it goes a lil' sumpin' like this:

I was fighting the mold
in the bowl
with my pee
when a thought popped into my brain
If all of us hated
high school so much,
why was nothing ever changed?

So I called Brian up
with my plan that's red-hot
and we got a private institution
in the name of punk rock
We got some government funding
and our own private road
and 666 for our radio snow code

I had a dream, when I was in high school,
that I attended
the Punk Rock Academy
-repeat-

Chris Jensen's teaching science
and he's still running Mountain
We fired the guy from Bad Religon
'cause he sold punk rock out
and we'll get the dirty punks that
(haven't figured out this line)
and we'll never ever buy anything
with a UPC

I had a dream when I was in high school
that I attended the Punk Rock Academy
and no one made fun of me

"Take me home tonight
I don't want to let you go
'till the feeling's right"
-repeat-

We'll import a token jock
and we'll kick his token a*s
and there will never ever be
a physical education class
I think you'll agree
it's the bizzly bizzly bomb
and maybe we could get Assuck
to play the senior prom

Love that song--it's hard to get the full effect without hearing the crazy synth beat and hearing Adam's highpitched voice singing it. Another great one is "Goalie":

What do you do
when you're fifteen hundred pounds?
You play goalie.

And "Happy Birthday Ralph":

Happy birthday, Ralph,
we love you
Even though you are f*cking disgusting

Ah... Always brings a smile to my face, much like this one here: .

I'm not old, you're just 12.
but how can anything be funnier than wesley willis? That guy is a riot.

The Frogs!
The Frogs!
The Frogs!
The Frogs!

Rock on, Boston, Massachusetts...

You want my Motha F*ckin' Capn' Crunch!

(These are all things he said when he played a show with Sublime many years ago.)

Measure me in metered lines,
in one decisive stare--
the time it takes to get from here to there.
My ribs that show through t-shirts
and these shoes I got for free.
I'm unconsoled, I'm lonely, I am
so much better than I used to be.

Terrified of telephones and shopping malls, and knives,
and drowning in the pools of other lives.
Rely a bit to heavily on alcohol and irony.
Get clobbered on by courtesy, in love
with love, and lousy poetry.

And I'm leaning on this broken fence
between past and present tense.
And I'm losing
all those stupid games
that I swore I'd never play.
But it almost feels okay.

Circumnavigate this body
of wonder and uncertainty.
Armed with every precious failure,
and amateur cartography,
I breathe in deep before
I spread those maps out on my bedroom floor.

And I'm leaning on this broken fence
between past and present tense.
And I'm losing
all those stupid games
that I swore I'd never play.
But it feels okay.

And I'm leaving--
Wave goodbye.
And I'm losing, but I'll try,
with the last ways left,
to remember. Sing
my imperfect offering.

Now With Moveable Parts
This song makes me think...it makes me think," Damn, Beck is the MAN!!"

Debra
i met you
at JC Penney
i think your nametag
said "Jenny"
i coldstep to you
with a fresh pack of gum
somehow i knew
you were lookin' for some
like a fruit that's ripe for a pickin'
i wanna do you like that Zankou Chicken
'cos only you've got a thing
that i just got to get with
i just got to get with you
and you know what we're gonna do

i wanna get with you
and your sister
i think her name's Debra

i wanna get with you
and your sister
i think her name's Debra

i pick you up late at night after work
i said "lady, step inside my Hyundai"
i'm gonna take you up to Glendale
gonna take you for a real good meal
cos when our eyes did meet
girl you know i was packin' heat
ain't no use in wastin' no time gettin' to know each other
cos only you got a thing
that i just got to get with

i wanna get with you
and your sister
i think her name's Debra

i wanna get with you
and your sister
i think her name's Debra

lovely lady
girl you drive me crazy

I'm not old, you're just 12.
This is gonna take a whole lot of typing, but this is my new favorite song:

They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
Following the rights movements
You clamped down with your iron fists
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids
I buy my crack, I smack my b*tch
right here in Hollywood
Nearly 2 million Americans are
incarcerated in the prison system, prison system,
Prison system of the U.S.
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
(For you and me to live in)
Another prison system
Another prison system
Another prison system
(For you and me)
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You don't even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
against the new non-rich
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You don't even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
against the new non-rich
I buy my crack, I smack my b*tch
right here in Hollywood
The percentage of Americans in the prison system,
Prison system has doubled since 1985
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
(For you and me to live in)
Another prison system
Another prison system
Another prison system
(For you and me)
All research and successful drug policy show
that treatment should be increased,
and law enforcement decreased,
while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences
All research and successful drug policy show
that treatment should be increased,
and law enforcement decreased,
while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences
Utilizing drugs to pay for secret wars around
the world
Drugs are now your global policy
now you police the globe
I buy my crack, I smack my b*tch
right here in Hollywood
Drug money is used to rig elections
and train brutal corporate sponsored
dictators around the world
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
They're trying to build a prison
(For you and me to live in)
Another prison system
Another prison system
Another prison system
(For you and me)

-System of a Down, "Prison Song"
(Easily the best band to come out in a long while...)

I don't cared for System of a Down. Yes, Chop Suey's pretty good, but for goodness sake, their stuff hardly even sounds like music half the time. No flippin' melody, just a lot of loud noise and yelling. I know the guy CAN actually sing, but I have no idea why he WON'T sometimes.

And I don't think I need to tell you that the political messages are far from subtle. I'm not a fan. Oh, and BTW: you could've easily found the lyrics online and saved yourself some time. I never type 'em out by hand.

Now With Moveable Parts
Sexy Sadie
Writer, lead vocal: John Lennon

Sexy Sadie what have you done
You made a fool of everyone
You made a fool of everyone
Sexy Sadie ooh what have you done.

Sexy Sadie you broke the rules
You layed it down for all to see
You layed it down for all to see
Sexy Sadie oooh you broke the rules.

One sunny day the world was waiting for a lover
She came along to turn on everyone
Sexy Sadie the greatest of them all.

Sexy Sadie how did you know
The world was waiting just for you
The world was waiting just for you
Sexy Sadie oooh how did you know.

Sexy Sadie you'll get yours yet
However big you think you are
However big you think you are
Sexy Sadie oooh you'll get yours yet.

We gave her everything we owned just to sit at her table
Just a smile would lighten everything
Sexy Sadie she's the latest and the greatest of them all.

She made a fool of everyone
Sexy Sadie.

However big you think you are
Sexy Sadie.

Ahhhhh Yeah. It isn't every name that gets such a cool song; I'm just the lucky one, I guess...
*singing* "Sexy Sadie oooh you'll get yours yet."
Heh-heh

She eyes me like a Pisces when i am weak
I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box for a week
I was drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish i could eat your cancer when you turn black

Hey!
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hate
Haight
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey!
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
...your advice

Meat-eating orchids forgivee no one just yet
Cut myself on angel's hair and bab's breath
Broken hymen of you highness i'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so i can climb right back

Hey!
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hate
Haight
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

Get Low, Get Low, Get Low
I think all of the Beatles lyric makes you think. They take everyday things and made them into songs. Some are easy to figure out others aren't, just make you think a lot.

There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea
You, became the light on the dark side of me
Love remains, a drug that's the high and not the pill
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey

There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain
Baby, To me, you're like a growing
Addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me, is that healthy, baby?
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey

I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
And if I should fall, will it all go away?

There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain
Baby, To me, you're like a growing
Addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me, is that healthy, baby?
But did you know that when it snows

Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels yeah

Yes, I compare you a kiss from a rose...
Kiss From A Rose by Seal. I think it won a Grammy for Song of the Year in 1993. It's an amazing song...one of my favorites, without a doubt.

A novel adaptation.
WHITE RABBIT (G. Slick)
Jefferson Airplane

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
Call Alice
When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"
