Songs you wish You Wrote

Tools

A novel adaptation.
Well, I could have sworn that this thread had already been created, but after a search, I deemed it neccesary.

The title is pretty much self explanatory.

I wish I had written a lot of songs, the one that comes to mind right now is Baba O' Reilly, by The Who. Mainly because of how much I despise my generation, and more so because I'm so often called in to defend it in conversation.

i wish i had written Jessies Girl (only changed the name Jessie to suit my purpose) and it was a good song.

There are so many more too, but lets see what others say first

I've got a splitting headache
Actually, the correct name of that Who's song is "Baba O' Reilly" I believe. However, I think Teenage Wasteland would have been a little more appropriate, lol

You're totally right, I downloaded it off of KaZaa, and the filename is teenage wasteland. I also have the record, but my record players broken, so, guess which I listen to more. But you're right, the actual song title is Baba O' Reilly.

Still though, you didn't answer the question, What song do you wish you had written?

Y'know silver, I've often asked myself that very question.
Where can Matt find a muther that fat?

I'm not old, you're just 12.
I never really wanted to write songs, but if I had to pick a song I wish I wrote, it'd be Chemical Warfare by the Dead Kennedys. Unbelievably funny stuff.

Actually, I think it's called Baby Got Back .

New ones:
Just What I Needed , by The Cars
Anything that Modest Mouse has ever done,
Pink Foyd's Dark Side Of The Moon , the whole damn thing, not just the song.

I've got a splitting headache
Ooh, Herodotus, I would have to agree 100% with you on Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album. 'Tis awesome!

"brain damage" by eminem just cuz thats the coolest song and lyrics ever

Tool - Stinkfist

Something has to change.
Un-deniable dilemma.
Boredom's not a burden
Anyone should bear.

Constant over stimu-lation numbs me
and I wouldn't have
It any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Finger deep within the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Relax, turn around and take my hand.

I can help you change
Tired moments into pleasure.
Say the word and we'll be
Well upon our way.

Blend and balance
Pain and comfort
Deep within you
Till you will not have me any other way.

It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To feel, to breathe, to know I'm alive.

Knuckle deep inside the borderline.
This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to.
Relax. Slip away.

Something kinda sad about
the way that things have come to be.
Desensitized to everything.
What became of subtlety?

How can it mean anything to me
If I really don't feel anything at all?

I'll keep digging till
I feel something.

Elbow deep inside the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Shoulder deep within the borderline.
Relax. Turn around and take my hand.

Creep By RadioHead
One of the only self-abusive songs that doesn't come off as pretentious and angsty.

Besides, this thread deserves a second life, I mean, it was'nt a bad thread, it just got few replies.

Anything that Modest Mouse has ever done,
Nice. I'd pick "Dramamine." So funky and weird.

In other news, I also wish I'd written:

"Left and Leaving," The Weakerthans
"Science of Myth," Screeching Weasel
Any of the Vandals's songs
"Germany," Sloppy Seconds
"We Want a Rock," They Might Be Giants

And about eight gazillion others. I'll add more later.

Good pick.
There are far too many that I wish I had written, but...[*] Talking sh*t about a pretty sunset (first Modest Mouse song I had ever heard)[*] Heart Cooks Brain

Those are the top two, I guess. What makes it so hard to pick is the fact that their music spans across so many genres, in a different mood, I might have thrown Sleepwalking, or Baby Blue Sedan up there, and the next hour it might be Sh*t Luck, or A different City.
It seems strange to me that one band can make so many different types of music, and yet have me enjoy just about all of it.

I am having a nervous breakdance
"Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd

"The Concept" - Teenage Fanclub

"A Day In The Life" - The Beatles

"Out There" - Dinosaur Jr

"Place To Be" - Nick Drake

"There She Goes" - The La's

....and about a thousand more...
