2012 Best Actress Oscar

I don't like the Streep victory. She seemed surprised herself. For one, the performance may (or may not, haven't seen it) be good, but nobody is buzzing about that movie. If there's no movie buzz, in my opinion, the performance couldn't have been that great. Davis' performance has created buzz about The Help (as well as Spencer) and she deserved to win.

The award's for the performance, not the film. Surely it's possible to have a great performance in a not-great film. Some have pointed out that Streep's entire career is like that.

I think a great performance raises a film though, maybe that's just my opinion. I'm not 100% and I'm not really into the whole IMDB rating process being the tell-all tale of how good a film is, but I'm pretty sure The Iron Lady is one of the lowest rated films of late that has won an acting oscar award.

It didn't look that great to me, performance or film.
