Drive - The best movie of the year?

Tools

Same here. Ive yet to see Drive but for me Warrior has been the best film this year by a mile. Maybe the best film ive seen in a couple of years.
Yeah I know, even if you don't care for MMA, you will still love this movie. I know it's a great film when it makes my father tear up. Greatest fighting movie since Rocky in my opinion.

Is it? It looks like low budget movie

I still need to see warrior but drive is alreayd in my top 10 faves of all time.

problem is, with these new fighting films trying to emulate rocky is that they get a little TOO slef absorbed, I mean the fighter was a great film but it was an average boxing movie, while never back down was below average (yet wierdly enjoyable) it is a great MMA movie. I really hope warrior has found the balance.

Best car chase sequence in recent history (up there with Deathproof), most experimental/atmospheric style of the year (it's Tarantino... but not Tarantino at all), equally experimental/chilly soundtrack... Nothing compares to Drive this year.

Yoda, I should love it mate. Can't wait to catch it on DVD. Def. would have been a better experience in the cinema though.

Absolutely. Pre-ordered it on Blu-ray from Amazon. First time I've ever actually done that. It better get here quick!!

Good stylization, but you know, these film have not the best prototypes. Look like actions from 80's, sound like them, behave like them. But who likes cheap(exactly cheap) movies from 80's. The American and it's noir was much better quotation. What would be next?

I loved this movie, but like pyro tramp said, i dont know about the whole year yet.

but i enjoyed it throughly and i dont know about you guys, but i think Ryan Goslings character may have had aspergers.
I agree with u.

While I can't say it's the best film of the year, I really haven't seen enough of the critically praised films to say that yet, I can say that it's my favorite film so far.

In a year loaded with superheroes it's nice to think that Gosling is the best of the bunch.

WARNING: "Minor plot point" spoilers below

According to Refn, Drive turns into a superhero film during the elevator scene because that is when The Driver kills the reprobates.

I loved the style and overall "coolness" of the film. Gosling was surprisingly effective and the throwback feel was delightful. Am I the only person who found the violence to be very Peckinpah-ish?

Very good film.
