I'm not gonna comment on each one individually as there's too many, suffice to say there aren't any real surprises in the male top ten. Maybe you'll surprise with the top ten females by 'Queen of the Ladies Maids' Louise Beavers showing up .... I'd absolutely love that but don't expect it .... we shall see I guess ....

Feisty, zesty and oh so good! She was a main-stay in 1930s films especially in pre-code films but didn't work as much later in her life. Sadly today not many know her name outside of classic movie fans.

#3 Favorite 30's Actress is

Claudette Colbert

One of the most talented actress I've seen work in film. I've seen her in a lot of movies too and she's consistently great. Long before method acting became popular she was intuitively doing just that. She's so natural on screen that she becomes her character. If this was my most skilled actresses countdown, Claudette would be my number #1.

#2 Favorite 30's Actress is

Barbara Stanwyck
Barbara's great, her friends called her Missy as she was described as being always happy and cheerful to everyone, which is opposite of the screen characters she often played. But if you watch enough of her movies you can see in her, what her friends had seen.

My #1 Favorite 30's Actress is

Bette Davis
When she arrived at Hollywood there was a studio man there to pick her up and take her to the studio. He left her standing at the train depot because he didn't know what she looked like and he didn't see anybody who looked like they could become a star. It's a good thing Bette made it to the studio anyway!

Some of my favorite 1930s films of hers are:

The Bad Sister (1931)

Waterloo Bridge (1931)

Three on a Match (1932)

20,000 Years in Sing Sing (1932)

Boooooooo - no Ms. Beavers

Just kidding ya (though she would have had a special mention on my list - and I guess I'm giving her one here too ). Great set of actresses and congrats on finishing the list. Again not gonna comment on them individually but I will be watching more films in which at least some of them appear before the countdown deadline and definitely need to see more Claudette.

CR, what a great job you've done and the Top Ten Countdown was great, and I agree with almost every one of them, especially the men's list. Ace job. Congrats!
