Senior Thesis Project Assistance
 

I am a senior at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I am currently collecting data for my thesis regarding cinema advertising. If you have watched a movie at a theater within the last week, I would greatly appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to fill out my survey regarding cinema advertising. Just leave a post & I'll give you the survey address. All information is anonymous and confidential. The survey is currently open and will be closing on Friday, April 25th.

Given that you're being upfront about your intent and asking openly for help, I'll allow this thread to stay up. I would ask, however, that you reproduce the survey questions here so that members can answer in-thread. Asking people to go off-site makes this little more than an ad, and letting them respond here will probably get you more responses anyway, as it's a lot more convenient than having people have to actively request the questions.

Description of this Research
You are invited to participate in a research study investigating audience responses to cinema advertising. This research is being conducted to fulfill the requirements for the B.A. in Communication.

What Will Participation Involve?
If you decide to participate in this research you will be asked to fill out a brief survey questionnaire. Your participation will take approximately 10 minutes.

Are There Any Risks or Benefits?
There are no known risks associated with participation in this study. Benefits of participation will be to aid researchers in better understanding of advertising and consumers' movie-going experiences!

Well, it was last month but somehow I doubt the commercials have changed much.

Seriously? Yes there were commercials.

Twenty minutes worth, its called the twenty
(catchy innit?) and I don't care to sit there and count how many actual ads there were.

10. If you can remember the ads, what were the three (3) most memorable commercials you recall advertised?

The only one I remember at all was some type of car commercial and that's simply because they ran it 3 times. I think it was a Ford of some sort.

11. Was the advertisement enjoyable?

Not Enjoyable, but repetitive enough to be memorable, so I guess they got that going for them.


12. What was your reaction to the ad?

I couldn't wait for it to end (had to though) and I just kept eating my Nachos.

No.

No.

Yes, I tape almost every show on television so I can fast forward through the commercials.

No offense to those not in the US, I just wanted to keep the demographic within a specific range...at first it started out with only theaters in Honolulu, Hawaii, but the theaters would not allow me to distribute my survey at their facility.

Seriously tho, kept an eye on this thread after Fern asked in case I could reply too. So Kim, how come cinemas in Honolulu wouldn't let you do your survey? is their business so fragile a university student's survey would unhinge them? You should've distributed it in the car park outside ;)

Aloha Christine!

The Honolulu theaters have national corporations that pass out all literature. It must be approved corporately before anyone can distribute anything. I tried to hand out surveys, but the security guys were eyeing me suspiciously. You're welcome to fill out the survey though...I do appreciate you following up though.
