A Song For November
Same as was done in previous tournaments of this type.....
Every couple of days will be a new 'round' where any and all newly nominated songs are up against each other. As soon as voting starts for one 'round' nominations will be accepted for the next 'round'. Players vote by ranking all the songs in that 'round' from 1 (their favourite) to n (their least favourite). Songs will be awarded points based on their positional ranking in each vote (number of points will depend on the number of songs contesting the 'round' - if 10 songs #1 song would get 10 points, #10 song would get 1 point). The winning song from each 'round' (or songs in the case of a tie) goes through to the 'Final' at the end of the month. Songs that made it to previous 'finals' are ineligible -

Simples but if any relevant questions just ask. |

I might join this game. I'm pretty sure you can join in at whatever round you choose, so if I don't join right at the start, I'll probably show up later this month.

A little under 24 hours left of the window for nominations to Round 1....
|
A warm welcome back to everyone returning for what will hopefully provide a little enjoyment throughout the month...
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...Xy76-&usqp=CAU Nakhane - You Will Not Die Burl Ives - A Little Bitty Tear Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang The Beatles - Got To Get You Into My Life Marissa Nadler - Couldn't Have Done the Killing Depeche Mode - I Feel You § (alt link if needed) Mastodon - Stargasm Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball Beck - Pay No Mind (Snoozer) Toadies - Possum Kingdom Please rank from 1 (your favourite) to 10 (your least favourite). This round will stay open for voting until 9am GMT on 3rd November. Nominations for Round 2 are now open |
1. Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball
2. Marissa Nadler - Couldn't Have Done the Killing 3. Nakhane - You Will Not Die 4. The Beatles - Got To Get You Into My Life 5. Mastodon - Stargasm 6. Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 7. Burl Ives - A Little Bitty Tear 8. Toadies - Possum Kingdom 9. Beck - Pay No Mind (Snoozer) 10. Depeche Mode - I Feel You |
Round 2 Nomination:
Ellie Goulding - Burn |
My R2 nom: Raskolnikov - 3:00 am |
Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang - I love this song. Even during my music desert years the chorus of this broke through and I loved that alone.
Nakhane - You Will Not Die - There's a lot of mood and atmosphere here. Paying real attention to the lyrics could either leave me liking it more or not caring. Not sure how it'll play out in this round for me. Depeche Mode - I Feel You § (alt link if needed) - Not really a fan of The Mode, but this has that driving beat that carries me along. Of the few songs of theirs I really like, this era and the early 80's stuff work for me. The Beatles - Got To Get You Into My Life - Ah, The Beatles. I just don't hear what everyone else does most of the time. This is OK, but middling is the perfect word for it. Short will work well in its favour. Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball - This is quite a good song. The video is awful. This might be the first time I've ever sat and just listened to the song. Toadies - Possum Kingdom - This was doing quite well for me, but lost me a little in the middle. Came back though. Mastodon - Stargasm - I feel I should like this more than I do. Maybe it's my current mood, but a lot of this is sounding like a lot of other stuff. Burl Ives - A Little Bitty Tear - This was Ok. I don't know if I've ever heard Burl Ives before. Marissa Nadler - Couldn't Have Done the Killing - Not quite sure how I feel about this. I've not heard it but it's such a familiar sound. I can't decide if that's a good thing or not today. Beck - Pay No Mind (Snoozer) - Another one I don't really 'get' Has some really good songs, but anything else I've heard from him just sounds like lesser versions of the few songs of his I like. This did nothing to change my view. |

I was going to nominate "Achilles Last Stand" but it goes about 30 seconds too long to make the cut. Instead, I'll just nominate one of their deeper cuts:
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven |
1) Burl Ives - A Little Bitty Tear
2) Nakhane - You Will Not Die 3) The Beatles - Got To Get You Into My Life 4) Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball 5) Marissa Nadler - Couldn't Have Done the Killing 6) Beck - Pay No Mind (Snoozer) 7) Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang 8) Depeche Mode - I Feel You 9) Toadies - Possum Kingdom 10) Mastodon - Stargasm |

Hello, MoFomies.

Re: A Song For November
Hiya Seal!

Army Of Lovers - Crucified § (alt link if needed) - I don't know if this is the second or third time I've put this song up in tournaments on this site and it never does well and yet it surprises me every time. I can't believe it just doesn't click with people here.
Raskolnikov - 3:00 am - A bit like a happy Joy Division song. OK Metal Church - Metal Church - Not as screechy as I feared and, therefore, better. Ellie Goulding - Burn - First time hearing this. It's OK but not particularly catchy. It'll probably end up in the middle unless it's a particularly good or bad round for me. The Belligerents - Caroline - I liked the begining, then found it was still happening and wondered how long it was. It's not long, so I'm not sure how to rate this atm. I'll see how I feel about it by the end of the round. Charley Pride - Shouldn't It Be Easier Than This - Nice enough, not quite country enough for me to really dislike it. Shakira - Inevitable - I don't really know Shakira's work, with a couple of exceptions. This was ok, though I didn't have a clue what she was on about of course. :D Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven - I'm not a big Led Zep fan and, while this is a classic and everything, there comes a time where I just don't care anymore. Queensryche - Speak - I keep listening to this stuff when it's put up and it just doesn't do it for me. Max Richter - On The Nature Of Daylight - Pleasant but too repetative for the length of the piece, IMO. |
