The Sea Inside is about Spaniard Ramón Sampedro, who fought a 30-year campaign to win the right to end his life with dignity. It is the story of Ramón’s relationships with two women: Julia a lawyer who supports his cause, and Rosa, a local woman who wants to convince him that life is worth living.

I especially like the scene where Ramon argues with paraplegic euthanasia opponent Padre Francisco, the highlight being when Ramon's mother disputes the priest's claim that she and the rest of the Sampedro family are not doing enough to support Ramon.

Ramon also struggles with the feelings of his family, especially his brother, Jose (Celso Bugallo), who believes it is wrong for Ramon to take his own life.
