01-16-15honeykidYep, that's pretty much my thoughts. I liked it, it's my kind of thing, but the praise it's been getting is ridiculous. I think Cumberbatch is very good and I love that Turing is getting praise and recognition, but if I'd gone and seen it now, rather than last year when I saw it, I'd possibly be leaving the cinema disappointed rather than thinking it was what I expected it to be. A good BBC standard drama. I think the same is probably true of tToE, to. Did you ever see Hawking? I know mark liked it more and that was a BBC drama from 10 years ago.

01-16-15I didn't think it was that great either. There were too many cliché moments that you'd expect from an underdog story for a start, I think that's my biggest complaint, I know it's based on a true story but it's definitely twisted a lot...
And yeah I kind of agree it just seems like something you might see on BBC, albeit one with a bigger budget and that. I liked Cumberbatch, and because the man and the content are interesting enough in the first place, and I'm a sucker for an underdog story (especially when the stakes) are high, I can't deny I enjoyed it in parts. So overall I thought it was decent, but not great, I can't believe just how impressed some people are. -
01-12-15Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. It's a shame you missed it last night, it was a pretty fun ceremony :P
