2-The Blues Brothers-Rawhide VS. 5-Little Shop of Horrors - "Little Shop of Horrors"-I sometimes listen to The Blues Brothers' version of Rawhide when I'm not even watching the movie, and the scene just makes it better. I liked the other movie when I saw it when it came out. The song works fine with the scene and movie, but it's not a song I like.

4-Goodfellas VS. 1-Moving Pictures - Never (from Footloose)-I love Footloose, but that's probably my least favorite scene and song from the movie. There are many better scenes and songs in Goodfellas than that one, but it's still my favorite movie.

Both scenes are classics, but I've always LOVED that scene from Blues Brothers

This is the first time I vote against my nom. But that Goodfellas scene is one of my favorites. I love the song Never, but there are far better Footloose scenes I could've nominated. I should have went with the Let's Hear It For The Boy scene where Kevin Bacon is teaching Chris Penn how to dance.

5-Troll 2 - "Holly's Dance" VS. 2-The Deer Hunter-Can't Take My Eyes Off of You
I have never seen Troll 2, but that dance was ridiculous, even though the girl was hot. The second is great. Walken owns that scene.

The Ex Machina scene is great, but I just LOVE Harold and Kumar and that is one of the highlight scenes from the first movie

The second was too creepy for my taste, and the first is a classic scene from a good movie. I won first place in my first tourney (Winter Tourney) with that song. It would be interesting if it wins it again here

The first is one of the funniest scenes in Wedding Singer, but the second is one of the best scenes in Predator

I love the Heart and Souls clip. If you haven't seen the movie, you should watch it. It's one of Robert Downey Jr.'s most underrated movies.

I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise, but the Risky Business clip was one that just needed to be included in this tournament. It's too iconic to leave it out.

My favorite of your noms is Hall & Oates - You Make My Dreams (from 500 Days Of Summer). I could see that winning the whole tournament.

It took me a lot to vote against that awesome training montage from Rocky IV, and I LOVE Hearts On Fire, but it's up against my nom, one of the most endearing scenes in movie history, and In Your Eyes is a far more superior song than Hearts On Fire

I just realized that Tom Cruise has been in many movies where he's singing or dancing. I was introduced to Strawberry Letter when I watched Jackie Brown, and it is a brilliant song/scene. Chris Tucker is hilarious

Awesome scene that makes the best out of that infectious song. I had a big smile on my face the first I saw it, and I had one again watching it just now

3-Hugh Jackman - Crying (Paperback Hero) VS. 1-Aimee Mann - Wise Up (from Magnolia)
First did nothing for me. The second captivated me when I first saw Magnolia at the movies in 1999. I remember I was on a date, and we were making out for the majority of the movie, and when that scene came on, me and her were speechless and our eyes glued to the screen. Brilliant scene! Really moving. Still gives me the chills.

1-Huey Lewis & The News - Hip To Be Square (from American Psycho) VS. 5-Apocalypse Now - "Ride of the Valkyries"
The second has far better song scenes (The Doors?). The first is classic. The world never heard that song the same way after this movie came out.

2-Rocky 4-Living in America VS. 1-Sylvester Stallone & Dolly Parton - Stay Out Of My Bedroom (from Rhinestone)
Sly (singing) versus Sly (not doing much). The winner? Sly singing by a landslide. Sure it's against James Brown, but Sly's terribly funny voice accompanied by Dolly and that ridiculous song and dance makes for great entertainment.

4-Rocky 4 VS. 1-Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes (from Say Anything...)-I've actually never cared for the second song, but it's a great scene and I don't like the first song either.

3-Old Time Rock n Roll (Risky Business) VS. 5-Jackie Brown - "Strawberry Letter 23"-Tough call. I love both movies but prefer Risky Business. Bob Seger is one of my favorite artists as well, although there's at least 20 songs of his I like better.

5-Home Alone - "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" VS. 4-Warrior-Surprised I'm going this way since I love Warrior. Musically, I prefer the first.

3-Row Row Row Your Boat (Star Trek V) VS. 2-American Hustle-I Feel Love-Easy call for me. That's my favorite disco song, and that scene was the turning point of that movie for me.

1-Adam Sandler - Love Stinks (from The Wedding Singer) VS. 5-The Skeleton Twins - "Nothing's Gonna Us Stop Us Now"-The first is a great song in a great scene from a decent movie. I haven't seen the other movie; it looks like a good scene, but I despise that song.

3-Hugh Jackman - Crying (Paperback Hero) VS. 1-Aimee Mann - Wise Up (from Magnolia)-I've seen Magnolia twice; that's not an actual clip from the movie, is it? I don't normally vote for movies I haven't seen, but I really enjoyed the first.

I thought the idea of this tournament was that the characters in the movie clips were supposed to somehow react to the music, as if they could hear the music playing, but some of these clips, (not just in this set, but all of the sets so far), seem to just be background music or theme songs.

Did I misunderstand the concept of the tournament, or should some of these clips be ineligible for this tournament? :confused:

I ended up deciding that anything goes, as long as there was a song attached to the scene to make it easier for people to choose scenes. More fun that way.

I think that was the original idea that i objected to. I didn't frame it as a listen to me or else situation though; i said more than once it's your tournament so it is your rules, apologies if my objections resulted in a less enjoyable tournament for you. Makes me feel so awful; sorry :(

I was just confused because I thought those types of clips weren't supposed to be eligible, so I tried to avoid them when I was choosing my noms. It's no big deal. :)

It's possible GB may have at least considered voting for the blues Brothers, but she will definitely not vote for Saturday night fever. That's like Aerosmith winning a tournament with one of the sake 90s ballads, or the Rolling Stones winning with the song from the last album. If that band were to win a song tournament, it should be with white rabbit or don't you want somebody to love.
