I'm drinking a pint of Foster's Lager right now, so everybody watch out.

A pint of Fosters? Unless you've already had a bottle of whisky, we'll be fine.

We will. I didn't want much to drink.

I am still nursing that pint. Feels good. I'm really sick of Movie Forums' dark green background. Too drab. Needs to be brighter.

I think it should be a white background and we no longer have these boxes for posts. Everything should be white. No divisions between the posts.
I'm a bit drunk on beer and whisky, so alcohol is pretty important to me now, but tomorrow I'll be sick of it and want nothing to do with it.
SC, this green background is nice, what you talk'n bout ya crack smokin hippie?

I think it's too dark and drab. The green color scheme around here has always got on my nerves. Maybe if it was a brighter green.
But it contrasts well against the white dialogue bubbles. I think the colors on this site are better than most sites.

I'm not impressed. Maybe if it was blue it would be better.
But it's a scientific fact that the human eye identifies more with the color green. ;D

It says we can see more shades of green.

But see? That's it. This shade of green isn't right. I'm bored. I need another shade of green.
I'm imagining this background except blue, and it's quite appealing in my mind. I think you're right SC. It's time for a change! We should riot!
Orange is good, I support you. Btw, SC, I'm going to want some commission for all the opinions of yours I've been supporting lately. :3

In August it will have been 2 years since I've touched a drop of alcohol. I finally had my first major hangover back in August 2015, which lasted 2 days, and now if I even smell alcohol I wanna throw up.

Don't drink, never been able to stand the taste of alcohol to be honest. Vile stuff.
Now Iced Coffees on the other hand... ;)
Why did you post about it here? Was it so disturbing you needed a drink afterwards?

I love alcohol, especially bourbon, scotch, rye, and craft beer. If I go more than 3 days without drinking I start to crave it, even dream about it. The implications of this are not lost on me
I also enjoy smoking tobacco, cannabis and dropping acid.

For anyone who hates feeling like crap the the next morning, I'd recommend Dickel No. 12 Tennessee Whisky
I've never gotten a hangover drinking it. I visited their distillery and it's apparently some filtering process they do. The most I've ever felt is a little groggy, it's great when you have work the next morning.

I like beer, but when it comes to liquor, Scotch Whisky is my favorite. Last time I drank Tennesse whisky it made me puke my guts out, not fun.
I wouldn't say it's important, but I do enjoy it now and then. I could live without it.
As for weed... Well I used to smoke it, but surprisingly most people don't realise that it can trigger mental illnesses, and I think this is a result of the brain damage it can cause.
My friend's wife is bi-polar, and smokes weed. The weed triggers manic episodes. Why do they prescribe medical marijuana to people with anxiety? It worsens anxiety and can trigger panic attacks.

I dont know anything about medical mary j other than what some american friends told me which is it's a lot less resinous (different strain from the recreational) and shouldnt cause psychotic episodes. If your friend feels it brings on pnic attacks he/she should discuss with their doc.
I also dont understand how it can help as pain relief. I thought it caused hot and cold spots in the body which can be very uncomfortable.
As for booze, I drink sparkling white wine from my own country, use wine, sake or sherry in some cooking, and drink beer when I travel. Cant handle the hard stuff apart from a cocktail here and there. I had one long island tea in NYC and felt quite high. ie I was ready to sing like a nightingale and I;m tone deaf.

If by trigger you mean cause, there's no evidence of that.
My wife has a medical card so she's now able to get all her goodies at the local dispensary. She spends a fortune there.

How much is medical mary j in comparison to recreational weed? I dont think it's available here so I'm just curious. I;m only interested in industrial hemp agriculture but I'm not sure if that is taking off here yet. Hippy markets sell hemp clothing, paper etc, but yet to see it in dept stores.

She used to pay $140 an ounce for the average stuff. The expensive stuff was around $300 an ounce, but it wasn't a big difference for her. That was before legalization.
Now that she goes to the dispensary, I think she pays about $300 an ounce but she raves about the quality. She also gets edibles, vapes, and all kinds of other crap. She even has a doctor's note stating that she can smoke during work. The funny thing about that is that she's a clinician who works with drug addicts. She got a card for having a bad back.

It depends how much she smokes. Her tolerance is extremely high. Even when high she is perfectly functional. If she smokes one joint, she's fine. If she smokes two in a row, I can start to notice a difference. I'd be wasted if I took one hit.

So what do you recon? Is alcohol important to me? I don't know, you tell me.
Not that important. My early life was destroyed by an alcolholic upbringing and I continue to deal with alcoholism in people I care for. I'll do red wine every few sundays but that's about it. I'm not opposed to catching a killer buzz but beer takes too much work, whiskey rots your insides and vodka makes me ralph. Though, I do sometimes like a vodka and cranberry.
All in all, I could take or leave it. I used to think pot or booze would make me more creative, and of course when I was on it, I thought I was. Being sober and just having my mental chemicals firing is like the stars aligning. Creativity and a good time can absolutely be had without the assistance of booze etc. Then again, Jimi Hendrix. Too bad he ain't around no more.

How true is that. I wish the churches down here would realize that.
There used to be fairs at churches that would happen all the way down the bayou, and basically people would fair hop from church to church. Of course, people would bring alcohol and drink. We got this new bishop in our parish that banned alcohol from the fairs, and they all died out two years later because nobody attended.
This is ****ing funny to me for two reasons: 1) Tell that to the ****ing monks in Belgium who have been making beer in the mountains for like a thousand years. 2) Good job killing your main outreach to the community. The church is supposed to be the center of social life, or at least thats how it was in the 1500s. And churches, generally, have done everything in their power to alienate their audience. But this time its even worse cause its alienating their audience and KILLING the culture and vibrancy of these little towns.
I can take it or leave it. Even when I do have a drink, I don't get drunk. I don't like being drunk and don't understand the appeal of it. I've only been drunk a few times in my life and those instances were all in my early 20's.
I don't smoke and only occasionally drink. Also never touched marijuana and have no intention of ever doing so.

Alcohol makes me very sleepy. Used to drink a lot - specially during college years - amidst other things.
If I had life time supply of alcohol I would drink myself to death, but in mean time MoFos would read from me ranting about something I think is funny. (comment inspired after watching uninspired "Leaving Las Vegas" (disclaimer: you can switch words inspired and uninspired and the sentence doesn't lose any gravitas).
Less resinous? Well honestly that just depends on the quality of the individual bud, not whether it's medicinal or otherwise. Medicinal marijuana is regulated by the government though, what you buy on the street is not so it may not be reliable quality if you're buying from a sketchy dealer.
My friend doesn't think the weed is what's causing the panic attacks, that is just something I learned from actually taking a course on substance use because I'm a social worker.
I don't know how it helps as a pain relief, in my experience it has actually made me more sensitive to pain. Maybe in other circumstances it can distract from the pain?
If by trigger you mean cause, there's no evidence of that.
My wife has a medical card so she's now able to get all her goodies at the local dispensary. She spends a fortune there.
No, by trigger I do not mean cause. I mean if you have latent mental illness genetically it can bring it out. If you don't, then no it won't necessarily cause it. However, if you do too much weed, yes it can damage your brain permanently causing mental illness. Weed is not harmless, as much as those raking in the dough would like you to believe.
She used to pay $140 an ounce for the average stuff. The expensive stuff was around $300 an ounce, but it wasn't a big difference for her. That was before legalization.

Having a bad back is really not a great reason to smoke tons of weed... I think you should be a little more concerned and do more research. Just think about it logically. Consider what the drug does to the brain. I'm not just talking out of my butt, I have only taken one course on substance use so I'm still learning about it myself, but it's no laughing matter. I'm sure you love your wife and wouldn't want something to go wrong with her mental health. Just think about it and look into it deeper. It could really save her.
