2014 Mofies!!! - Nominations

That's right. Now that we are two-thirds of the way through 2014 it's time to reveal the categories for this year's Mofies ceremonies. Most of them are the same as last year, but we've added a couple of new one too.

I know it's a little early but with some things like best post, you may want to start thinking about what to nominate now.

Rules for nominating

You can change your nominations until I say you can't so you can use your nomination post to keep track of posts and threads you are considering.

Please keep your nominations on one post. If you change your mind you can go back and edit your original post. I will only count your first nomination post, so make sure you follow this rule!

You have plenty of time to think about who and what you are nominating but you can start now if you are sure that you want to nominate someone. You can always go back and add another person later. I don't suggested changing your people nominations. That's kind of mean. :(

You can nominate up to five times per category. The top five nominated people, posts or threads will then go onto a ballot where you will vote for one winner.

No self-nominating. Let's all appreciate each other. :)

Well, you know, the '70s Countdown finishes this Sunday. At the end of the '90s Countdown, the "Sexy Hitler" video was unveiled.

I've been screaming for "Sexy Hitler II."

I just thought of a question that may be asked that I didn't address. If people prefer they can pm me their nominations, but if you do it that way you need to make sure they are complete and finished before you send them to me, otherwise I'd go a little crazy. :)

Yep... good idea, Godoggo. I think putting lists in here is good in two ways, it shows MoFos who is voting for them... and also gives people ideas on categories they're stuck on.


I reckon before the deadline hits, people should send them into Godoggo as a final list. Once sent in a PM to Godoggo, no more changing or adding, your votes will then be cemented.


Just be sure of two things... 1- you're happy with your final list... 2- you send it in before the deadline.

Too many people are nominating Honeykid for "Funniest MoFo." I don't like it.

I don't get what's so funny about him, myself. And I'm actually sort of being honest, I'm sorry to say, Honeykid. You mostly just do a bunch of :D's. People think that's funny for some reason.

He's not so much funny in a laugh out loud way, but a lot of his posts always make me smile and think 'same old Honeykid', his stubborn, aggressive, my opinion is always right approach that makes him famous, it's funny in a way. When everybody agrees on something yu can just guarantee he comes in and says the opposite :D

I don't get what's so funny about him, myself. And I'm actually sort of being honest, I'm sorry to say, Honeykid. You mostly just do a bunch of :D's. People think that's funny for some reason.

Honeykid's got a very dry wit, which is my favorite kind of humor. And unlike Daniel I find him funny in a very laugh out loud kind of way. Dude cracks me up.

I mean, I'm not hating on Honeykid at all. He's one of the best people here, for sure. I guess. But the ENORMOUS appeal that he has... I've asked him about this before. In fact, his user title - "MoFo Whisperer" - was actually coined by me to him. I called him that because everyone's attracted to Honeykid. Everyone just kinda feels like he's the best. But it's odd to me because it's like... how is he doing this??

I think it's because there's something very androgynous about him. He's a man, but he's a "safe" man. He could be a woman. Some people think he's a woman -- I know I have -- because of his Drew Barrymore avatars. People think Honeykid is a woman. I keep thinking he's something like Jerry Seinfeld. You know how Jerry Seinfeld always seems like a half man/half woman creature? Maybe it's just me. He's a safe man. It's like on Seinfeld, you could imagine that Jerry is the second woman next to Elaine. Kramer and George -- they're guys, definitely. But Jerry -- he could theoretically be a woman, like Elaine. Because there's something not quite masculine about him. That's how Honeykid is.

Last year was the justification that when I joined I hadn't watched a lot of movies and my knowledge wasn't great, but now I have seen all sorts of films and expanded my tastes massively. I agree with that :D

Last year was a blast and we had like, a week to prepare... this year, we're prepared for it.

G will present Episode I with Deadite... the other 21 will need at least 10 people, 2 a piece, and one award left open for another presenter, maybe myself.


What that will mean is, the MoFos who are chosen for presenting, will know the result of their 2 awards before anyone else, and will need to write up an introduction that includes who all the nominees are and a little roasting or whatever for the winner afterwards... all in one post.


Whoever the presenters are, I will be in touch with their given award at the time (Jan 2014 when the ballots are completed)... the award (the picture) will be fully completed graphically and all that... all the presenter needs to do is the write up.




10 MoFos to present 20 awards. Godoggo and I will present the other 2 of the 22.

Most of my favorite movies seem to be romances, musicals, and comedies, and they're considered average movies (in terms of ratings), and movies that nobody but me has ever even heard of.

To give you an idea of my movie watching habits, I just checked my Lists, and I've only watched 37% of the 1990s MoFo list, 45% of the 1980s MoFo list, and 58% of the 1970s MoFo list. I think the only reason that my 1970s list broke the 50% mark is because I was here to contribute my list, and even my list only had 10 movies in the MoFo top 100.

Thought it was great. However, what made him a legend for me was when he came back from seeing The Cannonball Run. :D Both he and my Grandma liked that one.

I just feel like Worst Thread is such a dud. I can't see anyone being excited about receiving that award where as Best Game is one to be proud of.

To be eligible the game must have been created in 2014. All the tournaments, survivors and things of that nature are definitely nomination worthy, but it doesn't have to be a game where someone "wins."

I'm not counting lists, or the Hall of Fames as games as I see those as more of a community project. Those are eligible for the best thread.

You can nominate a game in the best thread if you choose to do so, but it would probably be better to nominate it as best game as it will have a better chance to make the ballot. If you already nominated a game as best thread you can just edit it.

You can make a new post for this or put it at the bottom of your existing post.
