So is my buddy Chris Davis. Ah well, he's certainly underperformed. Tulowitzki and Freeman are my big guns right now.
I hope Cueto can keep it rolling. He has been insanely good so far. Hopefully Lester can beat that fool Dickey too.
Hopefully Lester can beat that fool Dickey too.
That "fool" must've heard you.
Yeah, tough game for Lester...
I was referring to Addison Reed the other day, btw...
FINALLY made some progress on ERA and WHIP this week... Good starts from both Waino and Richards combined with some good relief work gave me a few points in those categories.
Bummer on Sanchez and his blister, but I feel a bit better about Cuddyer hitting the DL so soon after I traded him to Tongs.

Its not going to be long before Manny Machado is back! I really hope that he is the missing piece to my team and becomes a star. Hopefully last year was no fluke.
I'm definitely not going to trust starting Masterson tonight. I may give him a go for the hell of it, but not going to expect anything.
My first rounder Kershaw is chomping at the bit to get back, but the Dodgers are having him do one more start. Next week then, and it'll be happy time! :) Cobb will take another month.
As for Cuddyer.....who the hell knows. He says theres no improvement, and so Im guessing he'll be back in a month like Alex Cobb. I hope at least.
So gauging realistically I say in one month, watch out! Which 2 pittchers Ill be kicking to the curb then between Hiutchison, Eovaldi, or possible new phenom Collin McHugh, Ive no idea.
Yeah, Sanchez is down for the 15 days. I know it's just a blister, but it seems a bit much to miss 3 starts...

I can see McHugh settling in very well. Great last start too.
You know whats sick, Michael Pinedas only gonna end up missing one start for the pine tar. Yankees had a couple off days so it was a convenient time. bastids, but good for my FBB team
.... and how bout that Masahiro Tanaka! Eleven K's in 6 innings. He be bad.

I like my team, though it has holes. Probably the good thing for me is 3 of my best players (Davis, Machado, Cano) haven't done much and are bound to heat up when they come back from DL or just basic poor play. I mean, my Cano trade could be a steal.

Han Ram 2 or 3 years ago was the biggest fantasy disappointment.
Bryce Harper has never produced at a long clip like Hanley Ramirez has. Never.
First rounder?! No way.

Oh, you mean someone who's NEVER produced like he was supposed to. Got it.
Jose Abreau will take that slot just watch. I just wished he didnt make his bones on my team :( He set the record for more home runs in April than ANY rookie EVER in baseball (9, and why did it have to be a grand slam?! augh), and is still going as he's hit a 10th.

Santana? That dude can't hit over .150... ;)
Today is the day I gain more points in pitching, or tumble down the ranks...
3 starters and 3 relief rockin today!
Carlos Carrasco....
http://www.animateit.net/data/media/nov2011/1526371-trump.gif
.....and now Trevor Bauer may get the call! He's done this bit before the last 2 years, and wasnt major league ready. This year though he finally looks like he's rock solid. I believe Cleveland thinks so too.
It's between Bauer and Josh Tomlin.
Michael Pineda had to halt a simulated game on Tuesday after experiencing tightness in his right lat.
Put some pine tar on it and stfu. Anybody want him?
I was pretty surprised to be able to get Santana on waivers. It's still only April, people! Rosario has been dinged up, so this is good timing for me.

Pedroa or you have paranoia
I had Pedroia, traded him for Anibal. Before I could play Anibal I traded him for Cuddyer. Anibal gets a hurt thumb, and Cuddyers healing like a 59 year old. The guy that made out is the one with Pedroia :indifferent:, but I got Omar Infante now and we'll see whose second basemans in the next two weeks the best HA! :D
You won't keep him two weeks.
Sabathia pitches four scoreless then implodes in the fifth. I know April isn't over yet but I am in last place and FRUSTRATED.

In fact Perez had a complete game 3 hitter at Oakland last week.
Now he's at home vs. them with an ERA of 12?
Sorry I don't get this game:D
I managed to hover around the same point total after all my pitching went, due to a streamer I plugged in last minute. My ERA fell again,. but WHIP went up and the counting stats got some love.
Also, the current #5 ranked SP was just a hanging out on the waiver wire. Thanks fellas! Hammel has been too good, and I know he will sink in the ranks as time goes on, but he looks REALLY good so far, with crisp mechanics and good command. He faces the Cards this weekend...no risk, no reward, right? ;)
Screw Jason Hammell. I got Shane Victorino, and I was 10th on the waiver wire!:eek::eek: Thank you Fellas indeed!
I feel pretty goid about getting Archer and Middlebrook this week.
^^^ Archer is a great pitcher having to throw in the worst league possible for pitchers, with off and on run support.
Taking a chance with Robbie Ross Jr at home vs Oakland today. Numbers look good, but am still nervous.
Quick weather forecast for some games at risk...
Pittsburgh @ Baltimore 68% chance of rain
Seattle @ New York Yankees 96% chance
Mets @ Phillies 100% chance
Rays @ Boston 100% chance

Thanks Matt Garza for the 15 era and the 3 whip. That's awesome.
He got taken out in the 4th inning with a bruised thumb(I hope it is nothing serious). Garza was a Chicago Cub for awhile so I know little about him. He plays terrible in cooler weather. As the Temperature heats up so will Garza.
Courtesy of CBSSports.com - (3:46 pm ET) Matt Garza listed as day to day with right thumb contusion. The Brewers announced starting pitcher Matt Garza left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals due to a right thumb contusion. He is listed as day to day.
Garza was injured during his at-bat in the top of the fourth inning, per MLB.com. He hit a broken-bat groundout.

Streaming pitchers a few seasons back it was oh so easy. Nobody else was doing it much, and there was deep talent available weekly. Now streaming's either at best a nice band-aid or a self inflicted korean caning.
I have made a couple of bad streaming decisions already, myself...
Just as I start to get my stats in order, I send some clown out to destroy my ERA. Good times!
Pirates in no rush to bring up Gregory Polanco
http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/players/playerpage/1954592/gregory-polanco
Go figure
Yeah, as a Pirates fan, it's been a little amusing seeing different people rush to pick him up whenever an article comes out. But they really don't have a good reason to call him up right now, given the long-term financial implications. He's only played a handful of games above Single-A, too, talented as he is, so there's still work to be done.
Definitely exciting to think about next season, though, with McCutchen, Marte, and Polanco in the outfield. That's insane. Not just because of their hitting, but because all three are basically center fielders. They're going to absolutely devour fly balls out there.

Ha thats true. So wrapped up in the offensive side of things I didnt think just how much of a highlight reel that outfield would be. Thats like 3 BJ Uptons running around out there. :dizzy:
A few double headers today. My waiver grab for it - Juan Uribe! He's old, but always plays, bats over .300, and has hit 4 HRs. Hopefully thats enough to overcome Twins pitchers Mike Pelfrey and Kris Johnson.
Juan Uribe goes 4/5 with 2 Runs and 2 RBIs, and he's slotted for next game - sweet! Problem is the rest of my roster played like jabronis.
7:00 games, cmon baby poppa needs to climb them ranks!
Juan Uribe 5/7, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs, and still going RAWR!

1 for 11?! That's freaking hysterical! You'd think after the 7th or 8th at bat Kemp would have started leaning in to get hit by the ball. That's just brutal.
If you guys want I can give you a thread where you wildly overreact to everything. ;) You can talk about how some guy had a bad 4 innings, or went 0 for 8 in a doubleheader, or how you're picking up someone just because he went 2 for 4 on consecutive nights.
2 for 4 on consecutive nights?! Who?! Tell me who?
If you guys want I can give you a thread where you wildly overreact to everything. ;)
Aren't we in that thread right now? :p
Seriously though to change it up, heres what Im hoping for this weekend...
Trevor Bauer to get called up. If he pitches more than 2 or 3 innings in a AAA game this weekend then it aint gonna happen.
Collin McHugh is for real. Even if he is for real its still a problem that he plays for Houston. With that albatross Phil Hughes could still get more Wins.
Hoping Garrett Jones & Josh Reddick keep up their pace because Jose Reyes aint ever been worth squat yet and Carlos Beltrans bat's been taking a nap the past 2 weeks. If Jones & Reddick do a string of 0'fers then a revolving door to the wonderful world of Waiverland will turn.
Masahiro Tanaka pitches 6 innings tomorrow of no hit ball vs the Rays, 12 K's, and after he leaves the game we crush them to bits.
Hoping the next Hannibal & Game Of Thrones episodes are keepers. Don't know of any character from either show would be good at baseball. Best a Thrones character could hope for is a Utility slot since they dont get much screen time. If Hannibal could transfer his knife throwing skills he'd make a heckuva good closer. His nickname would be Hanny and after the last out he'd yell "Bon Appetit!"
:nope: No, I think he'd rather eat himself.
The Bucs lost both games of a doubleheader yesterday amidst rain delays. So I wrote this:

I'm still not very clear as to how Tongo can add and drop the same player so many times. I have yet to be able to do that. Whenever I drop a guy and I try to put him back on my roster it always tells me that the player must clear waivers first. Perfect example of what I'm on about is his last three moves. How can he add Corey Dickerson, drop him an hour and 15 minutes later and then pick him back up another 15 minutes later?
I'm not sure I totally understand why, but it's the same way you got Viciedo 3 hours after he dropped him.
I'm pretty sure someone's literally asked this three years running. ;) Here it is in 2012 (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?anchor=1&p=802310#post802310):
Please note that a free agent added and dropped on the same day will remain a free agent. So, if Player A was added by a team and then dropped later that same day, he would not be placed on waivers.
The logic, I believe, is that without this rule it'd be easy to add and drop players you didn't actually want just to get them back on waivers and deny normal access to them for other owners.
Yeah what Yoda said. I had Viciedo whose great for avg, but dropped him cause I got some info which could net even larger results....
http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2014/0426/mlb_a_buptonglass_600x400.jpg
So B.J. Upton has started wearing glasses now while playing. Started up about a week ago, and he has shown immediate results. Oh my....after all those see-saw seasons in Tampa Bay dont tell me alls that was needed were some glasses! So outrageously simple it makes sense.
I'm on board
Rizzo goes deep again. He's reached base in his last 8 plate appearances, including two bombs.
Rizzo's an interesting player. Very big prospect a few years back, but was stuck in San Diego's Petco Park. He was traded to the Cubs, and last year he was dramatically underperforming according to some of the more advanced stats, which is why I traded for him. He had a good year but still hit a lot better than the topline numbers indicated. So I took him again this year, and it looks like his Roto numbers are starting to fall in line with what the sabermetrics said.

I guess that's me, sorry. I've read that three times now and I get it, but I don't really get it. So maybe I'm just thick.
Succinctly, the rule is: if you drop someone the same day you picked them up, they don't go on waivers. They go right back to being a free agent.

I was listening on the radio! Just two batters earlier Alvarez hit a two-run homer to tie it! They went from a 3-5 deficit in the 9th with one out to winning 6-5 on the walkoff. I ran into the other room to rewind the DVR. Awesome.
The Marte ball was crushed. Hit to straightaway center and still had 30 feet to spare. Absolutely killed it.

The Rangers are plain stupid. Theyve been slotting Alex Rios, who is earning when given opportunity, right in the middle of the lineup. Right after Prince Fielder, who is slimmer, but still a turtle that keeps Rios from getting more steals. They should move Elvis Andrus out of the 2 hole, and switch him with Rios. Rios would earn strong there. Stupid Rangers.
I just learned some bad news today that Masahiro Tanaka is not a 1st or high 2nd round level talent. He's just given up three earned runs inside four innings. The good news is it's against the Rays. The point? NOW I'm feeling that Adam Jones sting  Some of the worst burns are the ones youre so sure about.
My BJ Upton experiment continues as Tim Lincecum pitched like Good Timmy last night holding the Braves to 1 run and The Beej went 1/5 w/ a SB. Tonight is 5.40 era Vogelsong, and if nothing happens by monday Ill drop him to waivers. Btw, Tim Lincecum is available on waivers.
Garrett Jones! Yes I went there. I liked him on my team in 2012, but last year was, eh, not so good. Hes broke into the top 100 in production this year, maybe Miami refuels a hitter as Saltalamacchia is rock & rolling also.
11th place, and past the time it doesnt matter.
At least Tuesday a player finally comes off the DL to play this season :)

Thanks. Yeah, very solid day.
At this point in the season I don't even really look at the overall standings much--too much noise. I have a rough idea of what the #1 team finishes with in each category each year, and what that divides out to each day, so anything around or above those numbers means things are working, even if it's not showing up in the topline numbers yet. This was how I was able to hold the course last year despite being very far back fairly late in the year.
^^^^ Your pitching stats yesterday were also sound. Most skillful placement was you benching Sergio Santos and he did implode.
Oh man. Last night I got an email from Rob, the guy who used to host the site before we got the new server. He's a Blue Jays fan, and the email, in its entirety, was "Gimme a break."
And tonight, the Blue Jays pulled ahead 5-0, and now it's 6-6. I might get another incredulous email tonight.

http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Collin+McHugh+Houston+Astros+v+Seattle+Mariners+G1So0oYskyel.jpg
Collin McHugh vs Seattle in Houston. His first two starts equated to 15.1 IP, 2 Wins, 19 K's, 0.59 ERA, and a 0.52 Whip. His first game was in Seattle and struck out 12 batters in 7 innings. His second game he almost threw a complete game shutout.
He has changed his pitches, and the results are staggering. Some experts waffle not knowing if he is for real or not, others say this is a fluke. All say todays matchup is key in determining his worth.

I lost two key guys in the first weeks of the season. Finally getting rounded back into shape.
Tulo is a beast! Hope he stays healthy all year.
I'm really regretting taking Hanley over Tulo :(
Tulo's probably the 2nd best player in MLB when he's healthy (after Trout, of course). Are there any other solid candidates? He's got Miggy beat in defense and position, which makes up for the offensive gap.

Besides being a great bat, Evan Longoria's a golden glove level fielder. Also there's Clayton Kershaw.
Speaking of Kershaw, this is his first day back! HUZZAH! He is @ Was, thrown 6 innings, 8 K's, 0.00 ERA, and 1.33 Whip. I dont think he's done yet either.
Another nice surprise tonight is one of my 2 spot starters Henderson Alvarez who has thrown 8 innings, 6 Ks, 0.00 ERA, and a 0.63 Whip. Double Huzzah :)

http://www.rantsports.com/mlb/files/2013/06/Nathan-Eovaldi-Miami-Marlins1.jpg
While Cobb & Pineda heal this month Ive found 3 Marlin pitchers to help tide me over. Eovaldi will end up staying because of his consistently high K count with better bats supporting him this year, but Koehler & Alvarez are doing spectacular delivering microscopic Eras & Whips against the Mets. Padres are next. :)

Zunino!
Waino and Strasburg both dialed up great starts last night, and Jim Johnson got a save. My pitching is starting to come together! Still some work to do, but I figure can gain a few more points if no one gets destroyed this week. With multiple bats on the DL, I need pitching to pick up the slack.
If youre looking for a rock solid foundation for your squads point total, pitchings the way to go. My plan is for Kershaw, Tanaka, Cobb, & Friends accompanied by low era/whip & high K closers.
My plan for offense is to grab some "name" guys off waivers, instead of the streakers, that might or might not have been dropped prematurely. If this were two months from now it would be the streak strategy, but the seasons young still for some good solid grabs.
Yeah, I saw some decent talent on the wire that might have just been slumping a bit to start the season. If I see TOP 100 ranked dudes floating, I stash them, JIC.
I am running Rasmus right now though, due to injury, and we all know this guy... Meanwhile, dude is on a hitting streak and keeps launching bombs almost daily. I'll take it for now!
As for a solid foundation, I think Wainright, Strasburg, Sanchez, Hammel, Lacky, and Gio will suffice, with Street, Johnson, and Lights-Out Soria grabbing me saves here and there. For once in this league, I am happy with my pitching. My offense is pretty dinged right now, and my lead in some categories eroded quiker than I thought they would. Hopefully my slumpers start hitting again soon!
Yes, you guys do that. Definitely the way to go. :drevil:
Yes, you guys do that. Definitely the way to go. :drevil:

I want powerhouse players across the board, but having solid pitching has been better for me than in previous years, when I had ****** pitching. My ace last year was Justin Masterson...
Whoops!
Mark has averaged more wins each season than all but one owner, and its because of his strong pitching. I drafted pitcher heavy last year which was a cataqstrophic fail as the "sure things" tanked like Dickey. Now I paid all but my left nut for great pitching I know is sound instead.
Hm. I never knew till now my left nut was named Evan Longoria. :goof:
Zing!
Mark knows baseball REALLY well, or so it seems to me anyway. I just watch recent trends and try to ride them, and yes, I moved pitching up in my draft this year, big time.
George Springer hit his first homer! I grabbed him. If he starts doing the Mike Trout dance then Ill be happy. If not then back to the community goody drawer he'll go. Or I could trade him for Bryce Harper ;)
I changed my mind and went back with Victorino. What was I thinking...

He's out of pine tar.
Here we go again... I set my pitching last night, for the next 3 days...When I got up this morning, I checked my team, and there was Lackey and Gio slotted and ready to go. I get home from my parents today...and Lackey is on the bench after a great performance.
I'm pretty upset about this. ZERO chance I didn't make the move, I checked it MULTIPLE times, seeing Lackey slotted and ready each time. With Gio getting knocked around today, I absolutely needed this start from Lackey and I definitely, without question, had him in place. This has happened before, and now I am ultra-careful about confirming and checking ON MULTIPLE DEVICES, so there is no chance of me not hitting save - the new software doesn't even require that - it auto-saves as soon as I make the move.
This is my official request to stop using Yahoo from here on out. This has happened to me at least 4 times now, and there is nothing else I can do with this software to ensure my players are in place.
Chris, is there a way to check to see that I had indeed made the move yesterday and somehow restore my stats? There has to be some record of the roster moves I made, and I confirmed my roaster on my PC and then later, while I was out at night, on my phone. Lackey was slotted. I checked again a bit before the game, and say both Gio and Lackey in slots next to one another, and now somehow Richards is in the slot Lackey was in.
Sorry if I am ranting, but I am pretty much ready to stop playing at this point.
Ranting's understandable--sorry that happened. :(
I think we figured this out last year, though. When it happened then we determined (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?anchor=1&p=922198#post922198) that the problem was presetting a lineup and then invalidating that lineup by dropping one of players on the roster (full explanation here (https://help.yahoo.com/kb/fantasy-baseball/SLN6169.html?impressions=true)). There really wasn't any follow-up to the explanation, so I don't know if you saw it--you replied the next day, but it was about something else. But given that you made a roster move yesterday, I think that's definitely why.
I think changing your lineup for future days and then going back and making other changes creates issues. I have to be careful as I have a habit of doing that.
Any drop, any add, just anything screws up everything. There have been some times I followed software protocol, and it wouldnt respond. Not often though as I watch my lineup close every day, but if I tried to set things for days at a time I think Id have more horror stories.
But why was the line-up OK when I checked this morning? I am borderline obsessive about FBB this year (trying to claw into first place over here) and I check things multiple times. I checked on my phone on the road in the early afternoon as we traveled...the line-up was right.
I need Lackey's start...my line today is abysmal without it. I made the move...I started Lackey - my team's stats should reflect the moves I make and not software errors, especially when I confirm them the next day.
Also - I didn't drop anyone, did I? I didn't make any mistakes... I feel like I am getting fleeced here...
Oh wait, I DID change out Simmons for the Yankees dude... But man, come on! I need to be able to run my team and make roster moves!! Simmons is a shortstop, and doesn't affect pitching...

Yeah itll look like that the next couple days as my pitchings on its ear. Two 2 for 1 trades losing Lohse & Tanaka, plus Henderson Alvarez is waiverbound. So its Clayton Kershaw & The Whodats till Cobb gets well.
Carlos Gomez! Nice. Him and Alex Rios are gonna look like the bobsy twins in my outfield.
Well it looks like I got the new closer for the Cleveland Indians - Bryan Shaw.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/fantasy-roto-arcade/john-axford-axed-in-cleveland--bryan-shaw-earns-sunday-s-save-154010243.html
I wouldnt have got him but the tribe was playing the Rays yesterday so I saw him first hand come out in the 9th. Im as surprised as anyone because Cody Allens such a hot strikeout artist. He should help me more than poor Hector Rondon can.
I don't see Francona saying he's named a closer. I suppose I'm slightly surprised Shaw got the first crack, but that's not that unusual in the aftermath of a chance.
I'd probably still prefer Allen on skill alone.
Drew Pomeranz (Oak)
Josh Beckett (LAD)
Mike Leake (Cin, hes got two nice matchups)
and of course Niese & Eovaldi
So how confident would you feel?

Jose Fernandez probably Tommy John
I have never been so angered about an injury. This guy is a star in the making on a team that doesn't need something like this to happen. The heart and soul of the team has been gutted.
The Marlins have exceeded expectations early in the year. They are supposed to be one of the weakest teams in baseball. They've played with a lot of heart this year, but this is an injury that will be impossible for them to overcome.
Rasmus got dinged, so I had to change out an OF today until Eaton returns...I am concerned my pitching will all move around before the games start today. What do I do to make sure my roster changes stay in place? It looks OK now...but I am hawking this thing all day, JIC.
Dont add or drop anyone, and youll be fine.
Like a I said, I HAD to drop and then add someone, because Rasmus (already a sub for guys on the DL) is heading for the DL. I made sure my pitching was where it's supposed to be after the add, but this **** makes me nervous.
Though whatever lineup changes made for tomorrow too were changed back after your Rasmus drop. Double check rest of your week to be on safe side.
For Sedai - You've got Wainwright and Strasburg slotted correctly today, although Strasburg isn't listed as a starter, but he's not on the bench. For tomorrow, you've got Hammel listed as starter and Richards on the bench.
Thanks for checking, Mark! However, isn't that little carrot mark next to Strasburg's opponent name indicative of him starting today? My software shows Strasburg and Waino as starting today...
I think he means he's listed as a Pitcher, rather than a Starting Pitcher. Which doesn't matter from a statistical standpoint, it only matters in that the former can accommodate RPs or SPs.
Heh, I just realized I have 2 A.J.'s on my roster. Pierzynski & Pollock. Pollock should be ok for when Gomez takes his 3 day suspension. The dumbass could be doing it now and heal his wrist from that pitch he was beamed by, but he's appealing like no one saw him on TV raging all over the ball field.
Nevermind I went with Carlos Quentin, with a side of waffles.
Well Thankfully Michael Cuddyer will/should be back next week. He was on the DL so long I forgot he was on my roster.
If everything goes well with his simulagted game then Alex Cobb should be back the 22nd.

Meanwhile: Who the hell is this Garrett Richards guy? ANOTHER good outing from the best pitcher no one has ever heard of... 8 Shutout this time.
I hear ya on that! Drew Pomeranz just slew the White Sox last night 5 innings pitched, 8 K's, 0.00 Era, and a 1.00 Whip with the Win. Josh "Fried Chicken" Beckett may be back to his 2011 form too. He had a rib removed to throw better, and its working. It was pinching a nerve or something but whoa.
Then theres Dallas Keuchel. Keuchel shut down the Rangers last night with a complete game shutout, 8 K's, 1.00 Whip. Only problem with Dallas is he plays for Houston. Yeah I intentionally typed that.
Now lets see about this Chase Anderson. More to come....

05/16/14 MoFo FBB Review
12. Mudville Nine (seanc) 44.5 points
His offense is ok, Numbers arent impressive, but not awful. Oh the pitchings just sooo bad though. Last in the league for Saves, Era, and Whip. Second to last in K's, and third from last in Wins. The solution? Cut those big names like Hamel, Sabathia, Archer, Bailey, and I dont think Mat Latos will help any. In a sport where Tommy John surgery has become a staple it shows no arm is immune, and other than Archer who just isnt there yet, these old arms in Mudville arent gonna gain strength.
There are 4 pitchers still on waivers that could be started every week vs anybody. I wont tell who they are though. Go for it Sean, you have nothing to lose.
11. The Loose Seals (Frightened Inmate #2 / Patrick) 46 points
Pat needs RBI's, Saves, and K's terribly. He needs to watch his team more closely (Zobrist is on the DL and still slotted). He needs to trade me Jose Bautista :D Anyway I think Patrick can stabalize his team as he's shown competence in other seasons. This ranking for the Seals imo is temporary.
10. Fightin' Fontenots (syj / Scott) 47.5 points
Ouch! Some glaring holes. Third from last in Runs, HRs, RBI's, Era, and Whip. Second from last in Wins, and dead last in .Avg. Average is a toughie to overcome as are Era & Whip. Acting now is the only chance of having a shot as you need a long stretch of time to correct those "averaging" point categories. Scott has the talent pool to make the moves, and is wise enough to not get stung in the building process. Like Inmate #2s team Im gonna say these guys will improve if they make their moves.
9. The Russell Wilson 9 (Powdered Water / Chris H) 48 points
Dead last in RBIs & Wins, second from last in Era & Whip, and third from last in .Avg. In all honesty his pitching looks ok, but Im sure PW knows now Quintana & Tillman are not auto starts. PW Will improve IF he sacrifices some of his speed. Too fast with not enough pop to level it out.
8. ForTheLoveOfTheGame (TONGO / Rob) 49 points
Ahem! So I am last in Homers, Second to last in Runs, and third from last for SBs. Ive made some moves  and trades to where I feel the holes will be filled. I have HR potential in most of my slots now. My pitching is more solid than it looks. It looks bad, At one phase of a roster I almost changed my team name to Clayton Kershaw & The Whodats, but there werent enough spaces. In the next week everyone on my DL will be back :) Cuddyer, Cobby, and LaRoche. Business is about to pick up.
For now though Im just the lid on the garbage can as theres a big gap from 8th to 7th....
http://img.thrfun.com/img/007/764/garbage_cans_l.jpg
7. CoinSkinsBanknotes (Tim) 67 points
Last in Runs, second to last in HRs & Avg, and third from last in Saves. Other than that this teams a stud. Tim is going to collect more saves with Dolittle now, and Rondon is solid when given opportunity. CSB is top of the league in Wins & Ks, and in the top three for Era & Whip.
I think Tim doesnt have to do anything but be patient like Yoda was last year. The problem is he is patient. That problem is ours. This team is a dark horse to win it all.
6. Peanuts&Crackerjacks (rauldc14 / Dustin) 68 points
Second from last in stolen bases, and fourth from last in .Avg, Wins, and Saves. Best team Raulds ever had.
5. Freedonia Ducks (Yoda / Chris B) 69 points
Last in the league for stolen bags, and third from last in HRs and Ks. Yeah I think that sounds easily fixable too. The winningest (Is that a word? Screw you Firefox I say it is!) coach in all the leagues needs no tips from me. He came in 5th in 2012, 2nd in 2013, and will be near the top by my next review. Not at, but near.
4. Done and Dunn Hey Mikey, Adam Dunns on waivers! Isnt that exciting?! (mikeython1) 74.5 points
Our 2013 MoFo FBB Champion made quite an impact last year basically drafting an unstoppable juggernaut which never ever slowed down. Thankfully Mikeys squad is more mortal now. The offense is great, Jose Abreu :), but the pitching aint. Im surprised his pitching categories are as good as they are. Mikey needs Saves (4th from last), but thats fixable. Im predicting a drop for Mikey as his pitching corps lack of depth will catch up to him.
3. Clockwork Angels (Sedai / Mike (with no "y")) 79 points
Hey hey hey! Look whose eating at the big boys table! Yes Sedai has a good squad with no holes. All he needs is some speed for SBs, and a couple closers. Pitching needs help maybe in just avoiding tough matchups. Not too shabby!
Now everyone put on your helmets as the air pressure will drop. We are cruising at an altitude above the 79 point level to the land of the Top Two...
http://www.airasia.com/travel3sixty/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/pilots-in-cockpit.jpg
2. Quickie Mart (Adam) 92.5 points
Yknow, I cant figure Adam out. Ive traded with him often, and he doesnt seem to be a fantasy sports guru. Yet his teams most always earn and place well in the rankings. We gotta a frickin Rain Man situation on our hands here! (Jk man ;))
The Quickie Mart is open for business, and doing very well for itself. Fourth from last in Wins & K's. Thats it! Thats the weakness! Sooo easily correctable.
First place in SBs, Era & Whip. Second in Saves, and third in Runs & Avg. Hes fifth place in HRs & RBIs so dont anybody dare trade this guy a slugger! :D So.....
....is this Marks year?
1. Dodgers (Mark F) 95 points
He only plays in the Fantasy Baseball league, and always has. Always has placed high in the rankings, and came in second two years in a row. Mark has put it together this year by doing something he never seemed to do before (I could be wrong on some of this Mark, so please correct me) and thats work the waiver wire early in the season.
That guy pictured third from the top of this post is Chalie Blackmon. Third overall, and hes the new Jose Bautista for journeymen coming alive in a huge way. Mark also nabbed CJ Cron. Dont know him? You will. Mark even snatched up Juan Francisco, and is benching those that dont earn like Everth Cabrera, Coco Crisp, and Leonys Martin.
The pitching? Its ok, but what's scary is Marks offense is waaaaaay better. Top of the league in HRs & RBIs. Second in Steals. Third in Runs, and fifth in Avg. His "ok" pitching will improve whenever he wants it to as he's always been the best in pitching thru his knowledge. Miggy Cabrera hasnt even started surging yet! Trumbo wont be hurt forever either. This team, this season, could be the unstoppable juggernaut that never slows.
The only thing in our favor? Theres alot of ball to play yet :)
Normally I wouldn't bother mentioning when a guy has a surprisingly bad or good game and I've benched him, because that happens a lot throughout a 162-game season...
...but that said, it's positively mind-boggling how often I bench one hitter in favor of another because their matchup is clearly better, and they end up having a good game. And vice-versa. It defies all logic. Lefty up against a bad righty? 0-for-4. Same dude up against a lefty? Multi-hit game. Oy.
Okay, whining over. It has to even out eventually.
^^^ Oh I hate that. Makes me want to carry a thin bench on offense so my hearts not broken.
4-for-4 with 2 homers, 3 runs, and 6 RBI now.
Okay, my team is pretty bad. It's almost Memorial Day, but I still think I have time to come back to a respectable level. I'm actually trying, I swear!
Dropping Khris Davis (I knew I shouldn't have trusted him, spelling his name that way) and Swisher to the bench, wait for Santana, Carpenter, Sandoval, and Hanley to get going, and enjoy Giancarlo and Brandon Moss's production. In terms of pitching, Price is going to be fine, Cashner going on the DL is a blow, and Cain and Yordano should be fine. I'm hoping Hughes and McCarthy can give me a little stability.
Also, I can't let this slide:
Cut those big names like Hamel, Sabathia, Archer, Bailey, and I dont think Mat Latos will help any
That's a pretty bald-faced attempt to get some free pitching on the waiver wire, Tongo!
Theyre done. The only reason hes hanging onto CC is hes a Yankee fan. Bailey has a 5.44 Era & a 1.58 Whip, and how he got 3 Wins is only because hes on the Reds. Hamels & Latos probably still have some gas left in the tank so I spoke premature with those two.
No, I wouldnt touch the others on waivers. Heck I just kicked Marco Estrada to waivers for getting beat by the Cubs.

Sabathia is the only one I might cut loose, due to injuries and decline. Homer Bailey is basically the same pitcher as he was last year, when he had a ~3.50 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. He's just allowing about 60% more home runs than usual, and he's allowing an average of about 50 points higher on balls in play than his career rate. Basically, he's been unlucky and I'd expect him to put up about a ~3.50 ERA and ~1.20 WHIP the rest of the way. You can't look at his season-to-date statistics as an indicator of how he's going to do the rest of the season.
With that said, you're above me in the standings so my arguments probably don't count for much :(
Yeah that home run ball will make a pitcher non-FBB worthy real quick i.e. Chris Archer.
That feeling you get when your guys 0/5 and the games going into extra innings

Now Jason Vargas takes his turn on my ERA!! Oh why cant you throw one of your low era games when someone picks you up off waivers oh I hate you Jason Vargas! AAUGH! :bawling:
Tomorrow Im going to do two things which will boldly quell my era & whip woes this season. Hopefully quell that is.
Michael Cuddyers back!

He returns today too.
Vargas is a goon. I tried to stream him earlier in the season but he got completely shelled.
Jake Odorizzi hasnt mastered his control issues completely, but man o man can the lad get strike outs. At home vs the A's, 4 innings with 8 K's, but hes given up 3 earned so far.
Meanwhile pitching for the A's I have Drew Pomeranz who doesnt get the K's but has a 0.00 era, and will end up with a low Whip.
And on my bench is Trevor Bauer who actually is doing good vs Detroit, and is good for a K an inning. Interesting group of Whodats.

1! Impressive day. We will see about the consistency though.
I'm more surprised about Cuetos bad pitching performance, but that's gotta be a fluke.
Chris Davis hits 3 homers. Ahem! Hrm! Yeah. Thats the sounds of a stinging trade offer from the past I rejected blossoming right before my eyes for P&C. Sometimes you can learn from history, and sometimes history learns ya' the hard way.
It sucks to be at the bottom. It sucks a bunch. My best hope now is to sit and wait. Do nothing. I cant be more serious. Just sit. And wait. Patiently  If I dont then I have no hope this season.

History doesn't learn ya' from one game.
Davis offer (whatever it was) = not suddenly great because he hit 3 homers later.
Reyes trade = not bad just because he had a few good games after it went through.
Dude who went 3 for 4 last night with a homer = not suddenly someone who needs to be owned and started.
Repeat as often as necessary until the principle sinks in. ;)
Yeah true. Overreacting is bad. Yeah I do have a couple waiver moves left, but nothing like its been so far at this freakish rate. Cant see much more in the way of trading either as I desperately need Kershaw, Cobb, my closers, and my offense. Other than that I got squat  I do actually like my finished product though. I just hope its not too late for me being last with 42 points. Im now a nervous Nellie.
So this is looking like the Mark & Adam show so far. Dustins the distant third with the rest of the real contenders (Mikey, Tim, Mike, and Chris B), and then theres the rest of us much further down. As I forgot to include this aspect in my last review...this is taking a look at the best players on each team so far this season. Not the ones aquired in a trade but who got you where you are (or arent :()
12. ForTheLoveOfTheGame 20 letters exactly HUZZAH! Yeah the celebration ends there, but there is some corn now in my team. From the beginning though the biggest earner I have is Adam LaRoche and laugh if you will but he was ranked 68th overall before going on the DL. Adams back!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/nationals-journal/files/2012/10/laroche1.jpg
11. Fightin' Fontenots. This is an easy one. I read a story on Giancarlo Stanton in Sports Illustrated when he hit a ball in the minors. It wasnt a homer, but something more impressive. He hit the ball, and it was a line drive. A line drive that never bounced, wavered, and it hit the left field wall. Ive never even heard of something like that before. Stanton is 4th overall.
http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/slides/photos/002/778/143/hi-res-153328930_crop_north.jpg?w=630&h=420&q=75
10. The Loose Seals. Nobody saw this one coming. The second baseman for the Minnesota Twins Brian Dozier is ranked 5th overall, 40 Runs, 11 HRs, 25 RBIs, 12 SBs, and is batting .257
Holy crap!
http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site569/2014/0328/20140328__3-28BrianDozier.jpg
9. Mudville Nine. Sean had been at the bottom for awhile, but no longer. Hes gained some keepers in trades, but one guy from the beginning has earned for him nicely. Yep its frenchie Justin Morneau who plays for thin aired Colorado now. Ranked 28th overall.
http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Justin+Morneau+Colorado+Rockies+Photo+Day+i-THruEyc14l.jpg
8. The Russell Wilson 9. Wow that looks weird with the 8 and the 9. Anyhoo Chris H has padded his team quite nicely with Mariners  buuuut its not a Mariner thats earned the most for him. Its some first baseman you might of heard of, goes by Albert Pujols. Alberts back, and that means something as Pujols vs Chris Davis vs Jose Abreau this season could be sweet.
http://eriklundegaard.com/media/2/albert-pujols-si-cover.jpg
7. Freedonia Ducks. So Chris B (Yoda) has a pitcher he never thought would outrank Cutch, Yadier, or Encarnacion. Tim Hudson is ranked 22nd overall, and is outperforming all the other pitchers in the Ducks bullpen by leaps and bounds (other than Cishek who is 64th overall)
http://guardianlv.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Atlanta+Braves+Photo+Day+-4-2x_nqmYpl.jpg
4a. Clockwork Angels. Theres 3 teams tied for 4th so Ill break them down with letters at the end.
So Mike finally has a squad with a real pulse, and a real shot. What helped is his first rounder delivered as expected, Paul Goldschmidt. Goldy has 35 Runs, 9 HRs, 32 RBIs, 3 SBs. and a .317 average. Ranked 6th overall.
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/images/ps/y2011/players/psplayers__502671.jpg
4b. CoinSkinsBankNotes. Tim got Trout. Trout hasnt been his highest ranked performer. That would go to Zack Greinke ranked 17th overall. 53 IP, 7 Wins, 61 K's (badness!), 2.03 Era, and a 1.11 Whip
http://www.insidesocal.com/dodgers/files/2013/03/Zack-Greinke-throws.jpg
4c. Peanuts & Crackerjacks. Easily Dustins best fantasy team ever. Chris Davis showed some of 2013 tonight, but Davis greatly disappointed till now. What got Rauld near the top is the #1 ranked fantasy baseball player overall - Troy Tulowitzki
42 Runs, 13 HRs, 35 RBIs, 1 SB, and a .393 Avg BAYUM! Thats impressive.
http://slugger.com/story/players/images/TTulowitzki_Profile2.jpg
3. Done and Dunn. I know a new player thats gonna be in the first round next year! The returning champion made out like a bandit with his mid round pick. He nabbed the 8th best player overall, and the home run king. He hit more home runs in april than any rookie in the history of baseball!!! Jose Abreu 29 Runs, 15 HRs and this is like a 4-5 week period, 42 RBIs, and a .260 Avg.
http://standingosports.com/main/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ff.jpg
2. Quickie Mart. This one surprised me too. The 7th ranked player overall is Josh Donaldson. Another mid round grab thats paid huge. JD has 38 Runs, 10 HRs, 35 RBIs, 1 SB, and bats .280. Why cant Evan Longoria be doing this?! He better not beat Longo by years end or crankiness and pissiness will ensue!
http://thesportspost.com/content/blogs/icons/628x4713.jpg
1. Dodgers. Mark got Miguel Cabrera, Max Sherzer, and other juicy earners in the draft, but his greatest earner he picked up off waivers.
Is Charlie Blackmon the next Jose Bautista?! A veteran journeyman nowhere near youth becoming one of the very best?! 35 Runs, 9HRs, 32 RBIs, 9 SBs, and batting .339  Maybe it really is him growing a beard to capture Red Sox mojo. He did actually...

I also have the number 2 man in fantasy, Johnny Cueto. He was roughed up yesterday, but he's still #2.
Meanwhile I'm in 3rd and feeling good. I'm a closer and a bag stealer away from real contention.
Edwin Encarnacion Hit The Crap Out Of A Baseball (http://deadspin.com/edwin-encarnacion-hit-the-crap-out-of-a-baseball-1579507406)
See that big white billboard? That thing is on the top of a building that sits across the street from Fenway Park, on the other side of the green monster. Last night, Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion nailed that billboard with a home run ball.
Morneau has been the player of old. I hope it keeps up. I was tempted to put him on the block instead of Ortiz but really want his BA if he is truly back. WW pick up not drafted too.

Ah! I didnt know. Makes sense though. I think Morneau will be up and down but since his home games are in Colorado he may still have a career year.
I had some really bad things happen to my team last week, but they seem to be course correcting. At one point, I was knocking on Mark's door, trying to get into first, but I slid several spots over the past 1.5 weeks. My pitching was tanking, but last night, I had a couple of of starters dominate to get things back on track. My hurt OFs are starting to return, and Goldie and Gonzo are hitting again.
Go Clockwork Angels!

Well there you go then.
A fantasy baseball haiku.
Last place
40 points
balls
Well, haikus are five
Syllables long, then seven
But that's a good try
I approached the top
But then my team starts to flop
So now the tears drop
Chris stole my thunder
Making it seem like blunder
why he mean to me?
(Oh yeah, Haiku don't rhyme)
I think they can rhyme.
But that's a good deal harder.
It's well beyond me.
I screwed up my haiku
Now I know better for next time yall
My team is still balls.
I screwed up my haiku (6)
Now I know better for next time yall (9)
:nope:
Oy! Syllables! Ok I get it.
Now I'm super curious what you thought the rule was each of those two times.
I thought it was the amount of words. 5 first line, 7 in middle, and ends with 5. I suck at grammar. Ok syllables, here it comes....
My players are old
Longoria is ice cold
Get no DVD's
Geez, Encarnacion with another two homers. That's 4 in 2 games, 5 in 3, and 7 in 6.

Whatever trade you offered me with him in it I should have taken.
Ozuna on my bench
My offense is waking back up...finally! A couple weeks of daily batting averages in the mid 100s, and I was starting to get nervous! Back to getting multiple homers per day, and not a moment too soon! Let's get back to it!
Article about Encarnacion's historic surge:
http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/90210/encarnacion-continues-amazing-surge
11 homers in 15 games. Good grief. Most in a 15-game span in team history.

Last place with no hope, but I feel good.
Alex Cobb returns today :)

Wow - Jay Bruce has already been reactivated, which is pretty much insane. The guy had knee surgery barely 3 weeks ago, and he is already running bases at full speed. I expected a minimum of 4 weeks off, with a rehab assignment tacked on at the end. I hope he isn't risking worse damage by rushing back too soon. He is back on the field vs the Cards this weekend. I need his bat and his steals, so I am not complaining!
Well I just chickened out at the last minute using Jorge De La Rosa at home vs the Tim Hudson led Giants. Matt Shoemaker - you da man! For the next 20-25 minutes at least....
Bad News for Adam. Prince Fielder seriously considering season ending surgery.

I heard he actually did this on consecutive pitches.
You know I gotta pretty darn good roster and I think its time I surge! Im gonna surge now! Its surging time! Im focusing my chi right now!
That is all
Finally clawed my way out of the basement and then my pitching nearly put me back there over the last two days. Beckett's no-no and a good outing from Tenaka should get me my points back today. I can't wait for my team to put a decent month together. It has to happen eventually, right?

The Gap from 1st and 2nd place to the rest of us is like 20 points give or take a little:frustrated:. It's Kind of discouraging but I really think if I can get myself in the mid 80's I think I might have a shot!
Prospect hits first career pro homer--dad catches the ball:

Ah screw the voodoo Ill post here, and just hope my surge continues.
So does anybody know the difference between American League and National League pitching? I used to think the AL pitchers superior due to the DH and all, but noticed whenever a batter switches from one to the other theres some down time getting used to it. Not always but enough to notice. I think Granderson commented on this recently.

The AL is generally regarded as the stronger league overall (based on Interleague results and some other factors), but it's hard to say how that affects pitching when comparing the leagues. A good pitcher in the AL that moves to an NL club is usually a good bet to do well, because of the lack of the DH and the disparity in talent level in the leagues. A good pitcher in the NL might have issues moving to the AL. There are exceptions to these, naturally, but I think in general that's how it goes. And there might be an adjustment period for some players moving leagues, but it's probably not huge because they face each other so often with interleague play and players changing teams.
I'm not sure if that really answers your question. AL pitchers might be better overall, but their stats might be worse or similar to NL pitchers because they have to face the DH and better competition. None of this applies to the Giants, of course, because they're awesome and 6-0 against the AL so far this season

I understand, but actually I was curious if the velocity is different, and type of pitches thrown were different. BJ Upton went to plain worthless switching over to the NL. Hes an american league hitter so you wouldnt think he'd be so challenged. Pujols went thru his first slump coming over to the AL in 2012, but he got a handle on that before the year was out. Jake Arrietta is ho-hum for Baltimore, but goes over to the Cubs and looks like Cliff Lee  I guess what makes the most sense, though it feels like a cop out on the topic, is it just affects different players differently.

Great pitching performance from Colin McHugh. My team is trying to prove its no fluke.
Good grief, Encarnacion hits two more. That's 16 this month, with five multi-homer games. He's already tied the AL record for May and he's got two more games to try to tie Bonds for the MLB record. It's getting to the point where it looks weird on the scoresheet when he doesn't go yard.
Yeah EE is in the zone for sure. He rocked Alex Cobb quite handily. George Springers doing a good 2013 Chris Davis impersonation also, 6 homers in the past 6 games. Also, Khris Davis looks like his first name should begin with a C as he's hit 4 HR's in the last 6 games. Khris is more of an undisciplined hitter though, all talent no technique, so Ill just enjoy the ride while it lasts.
....and Im gonna give Marco Estrada one more try. I drafted him, kicked him to waivers, later made a small trade to get him back, hen kicked him to waivers again, and now he's at home vs the Cubs. Thing is the last time he pitched against them in Chicago they scorched him.
This is it!
http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Marco+Estrada+Philadelphia+Phillies+v+Milwaukee+f-fGSOSWGJWl.jpg
Ugh. Ugly observation. In total 2014 production, streaking/surging Khris Davis has already overtaken Evan Longoria. :(

More than likely safe to say I was wrong about Machado. He's not looking like he will be a star.
Oscar Tavares just got called up by the St Louis Cardinals.
http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasybaseball/players/playerpage/1804467/oscar-taveras
:)
Tim advised I dont start deGrom @ Philly today so Im going with Marcus Stroman vs KC. The numbers say Stromans a dangerous start as his one start in the majors he got decimated, and has done "ok" in his minor league starts since. At least Ive heard of Stroman though. :indifferent: yeah
Decided to go with deGrom after all. Stromans numbers terrify me.
You could play neither, of course.
Well! San Frans Yusmeiro Petit was throwing a one hitter into the 5th inning vs St Louis, and then Oscar Tavares hit a home run
http://www.scribbleoneverything.com/images/uploads/WallDecals/cartoon/bam.gif
:)
Well all these hot young prospects coming up and emergings made me like a kid at the Waiverland Candy Store. Buuuuuut Im gonna chicken out when it comes to the pitching end with my era & whip so darn awful.
Dropped new hotshots Rubby De La Rosa & Marcus Stroman to waivers to get Josh Collmenter & Jorge De La Rosa. Stroman & Rubby might be good, but they pitch in the American League East. Nobodys immune to the amount of overpaid sluggers residing there, and you watch Tanakas gonna take a hard asswhoopin soon, you'll see. :yup:
You don't get any fantasy value from it, but it's still really awesome and fun to watch: Cespedes throws out two runners at the plate in the same inning.

^^^^ Holy crap! Hes got an arm but the aim is whats impressive.
My team is ass again.
After the two mini shrums the Red Sox/ Rays, the first one Gomes came from left field to get in Escobars raging face, and I remember the brawl back in 2008.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0n4ihd492Y
Hilarious one for many reasons, the Coco Crisp juke and charge, Shields swing & Crisps matrix duck backwards, and then Navarro slamming Crisp to the ground, and get this...about 2:45 seconds in, two Ray players come out of nowhere and feebily started punching at Crisp while he was held down, then a wave of Red Sox descend on them. One was some japanese kid I never seen before, and the other was Johnny Gomes . Its the team youre on now I guess, but if I was a Red Sox fan I would have been pissed too this last series.
