Well I'm sure we'll end up with a few different versions of the same traditional songs (I have two different recordings of Silent Night in my iTunes library, for example) plus there are untold numbers of original Christmas songs (the A Very Special Christmas CDs feature quite a few), plus novelty songs (Alvin and the Chipmunks, anybody?) and also some really good instrumentals.

Though I'm quite saddened to find that my favorite Christmas instrumental is not on YouTube.

Yeah, that's a good point. A winner should be retired, and I agree it's fine to nominate songs that have already been used in other tourneys. One song might do well in a specific type of tourney where it didn't do so well in an open one. White Rabbit had just been used and went pretty far, so I didn't want it again so soon.

Of course the radio plays a big role in the spread of popular music. In case you didn't know, most of the big names in this tournament had at least some radio exposure. Radio used to be pretty good.

That's fine if you prefer music that never makes it onto mainstream radio stations, that's your "prerogative", but the fact is, A lot of the great classics were on radio first.
