Just a quick note: I updated the post counters recently, which re-counts post totals so that things like all the custom spam removal things I've built and such get accounted for more accurately. Normally this means almost everyone's post count going down, but in the random spot checking I did it made them go up. Weird.

Anyway, it didn't look like it was by more than a few dozen in the cases I checked, but just know that the totals may jump a bit more than usual as a result.

For example: JayDee wrote an in-depth, well thought out review of Equilibrium and got +8 rep for it. I wrote like 3 sentences about The Long Goodbye and got +10. Does that make my Long Goodbye post of higher quality than JayDee's? I certainly don't think so.

The difference between quantity and quality and the reason why one has a thread and the other doesn't is that quantity of posts can be measured while quality of posts cannot. Rep counts do not accurately represent anything. People can like a post but choose not to respond to it in any way or they might like a post so much that they instead choose to reply to it but don't give it any rep. And, no, rep counts do not display in profiles anymore.

Apparently I screwed up and missed DexterRiley in last month's count, so some people have dropped a place on the list due to that oversight. Even so, teeter_g has jumped three places on the list and appears to be the fastest mover.

Just a little note about jrs:

I didn't put his post count for the month because I don't have his previous total. From my own personal count, I think he has posted 25 times since being un-banned a week or so ago. I guess because he was banned (for several years), his name didn't show up on the member list in previous months, which is why he suddenly went from not being in the top 50 to being in the top 10.

Yep, it's the 1 year anniversary of this thread. In that time I've jumped from #48 to #10 and posted 10,523 times (10,524 if you count this one). Sexy's count jumped by 24,876 in that time. Holy crap!

How do you get to the member's list without a link? :confused:

I've been searching all over the place, and I can't seem to find a way to get there if you guys hadn't given me a direct link.

I have quite a lot of posts to make up for. One thing I will say is unlike a lot of forums I have been on people do not just post for the sake of posting and getting higher counts which is nice as previous forums have had a lot of members who are obsessed with getting higher numbers and more posts and no actual content.

AFAIK, there isn't an official link for it anywhere on the forums. I just google "moviefourms.com member list" to get it.

Yeah, I didn't really bother to include a link for that in the new design--not too many people need/use it, and there really isn't room up top. But since you guys are passing it around like an underground mix tape, I guess I should pretty it up at some point. ;)

Yoda, I like the way that every time someone finds some small issue with the site, no matter how trivial it seems to be, you're always right on top of it, and working to make the site better. That's so much better than most sites out there that just stay with the same old design that they started with years ago.

I have to say though, some of these post counts are insane. Our #50 and our #1 are separated by 40,547 posts. Even within the top 5 the difference is astronomical. Mark F, our number 5, needs to post 20,624 more times before he gets to honeykid's current count. And who knows how ridiculously high hk's count will be by then.

I know, but my goal isn't to make the list. My goal is just to be an active member of the site, and to have fun while doing it. If I can accomplish anything else along the way, that's just a bonus. :)
