I have been working on this for quite some time. Actually since I finished the top 50 I have been thinking about this one. You will notice that a lot of the movies that were on the top 50 aren't on this list and that others have dropped pretty far. Now I will start the list. Enjoy, or don't, whatever. :D Hopefully it will give people some more movies to watch. There isn't a movie on this list that I rated under a 3.5

The Fighter is alright Dantes Peak is awful.
The Gunslinger45
05-15-13, 07:01 PM
I went through a phase where I thought Dante's Peak and Volcano were great movies. Granted that was middle school, and I have not seen them in IDK 15 or so years. Give or take. So I have no idea if they hold up. But I must notice that Green Street took a major fall.

Wow. Green Street went from 2 to 96 in only a few weeks?! It seems that you have a very capricious mood when it comes to films. :p
teeter_g

Ah, Green Street. It was quite a fall. I have put quite a few movies in this one that I thought belonged ahead of it. After watching all of them again, which took quite some time, I decided that I was overly nice the first time. I still stand by my first list, but this one is closer to accurate, in my eyes. As far as Dante's Peak goes, it is where it belongs on this list as well. I thought about only giving it honorable mention and putting something else there, but I liked this one better and felt that it belonged on my list.

The work really well together! When I saw the cover before watching it the first time, I thought 'This is either gonna be really good, or really bad'. Thank goodness it was really good! There wasn't really gonna be a grey area with that one. :)

Tarantino should direct Clooney (he always casts one huge star in his most recent pictures) in a 30s gangster movie as a mob boss. That would be AWESOME!

The Good - Rocky, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Exorcist(:up:)
The Bad - Joy Ride, From Dusk Till Dawn, Chronicle, The Crow

the rest I haven't seen.

Chronicle is probably my favorite super hero movie. The Exorcist and From Dusk till Dawn are both favorites of mine. The Usual Suspects is really good. The only movie from your list that I've seen and really disliked is The Fighter.

Since I last posted, all the films that I have seen that you have included, I think have been either good or great..
Dazed and Confused, Blow Out, and Full Metal Jacket are all truly great films, the last one I didn't truly appreciate until a second viewing. Looper I thought was great too, although is relatively new so needs time before I would say it's 'truly' great. Then Gladiator is a really enjoyable film, that I need to watch again, and I thought The Avengers was pretty good/enjoyable when I watched it, but I don't remember much.

2 DiCaprio movies on my list?! In my defense these two were before he started to suck the life out of babies.
DiCaprio never ever sucked. He's growing to become one of the best actors of his generation. He picks his movies very wisely and is building an awesome filmography!
I really like some of the films on your list, such as O Brother Where Art Thou?, Full Metal Jacket, Blow Out, 12 Monkeys, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Monsters Inc., Raiders of the Lost Arc, The Matrix etc.
Donnie Darko, Looper, Die Hard and Scarface were also pretty good. Didn't really care for From Dusk Til Dawn's last part, but I also quite enjoyed it. I have the same mixed feeling with Basketball Diaries.
Some of the other films on your list aren't really my taste, though. :p There are also some movies that I haven't seen.

I respect your call on law abiding citizen, like Guaporense says, its the different choices that makes lists interesting. My problem with this movie was that in any other version, butler's character would be the avenging hero and foxx's shelfish character and perfect bad guy target to be taken out. I am probably going to see Boondock Saints this weekend. But can somebody who has seen the movie please explain to me why is there such a huge contrast between the critics rating and the audience rating?
http://i.imgur.com/lSRQDVK.png
Furthermore, it has a below-average rating on Metacritic too.
actually, never mind. I need to find out myself why the critics hate it and why other people love it. Right now I am quite curious to know who's right and who's wrong.

This list is way better than your Top 50 but it still has the odd bad movie mixed amongst the greats. Law Abiding Citizen was terribad. Gerard Butler seems to have made awful choices since 300.
I love Equilibrium, glad to see it up there. It gets an unfair press as some kind of Matrix knock off but I think there's very little else like it, certainly in terms of action anyway. The use of the gun becoming it's own martial art is genius and pulled off masterfully. Just don't mess with Christian Bale's puppy.

Lots of critics feel it tries to be too Tarantino, and they prefer Tarantino. Also it is not something that is really original, as it has a lot in common with other movies like Death Wish. But the cast is AWESOME! Both in the main leads and a fantastic supporting cast. Willem DaFoe is especially good as Agent Smecker.
It has less with right and wrong, and more with personal taste.

Well certainly it was his breakout role from supporting actor to leading man. 300 could have been his "Gladiator", becoming the next Russell Crowe but everything has sucked since.

I didn't like The Amazing Spider-Man as much as Spider-Man 2, but it was a close second. I'm looking forward to the sequel; Paul Giamatti wouldn't have been my first choice for Rhino, but I'm interested to see how he plays the part.

I liked The Amazing Spider-Man. Probably the worst villain in the series, yet my favorite take on the character (who I've idolized for most of my life, BTW).
Got to say I really enjoyed The Amazing Spider-Man. Particularly liked the casting of Garfield and Stone.

I just finished watching it, and critics are right, but they were harsh too, I feel. I am not sure if the movie tries to be too Tarantino, or if it is a Tarantino rip-off, but you cannot say it doesn't consist of QT ingredients, can you?
I'm talking about the obvious blending of violence with humour (the cat scene in particular, looked quite similar to the 'I shot Marvin in the face' scene), then there was a '360 shot' too, in a scene shortly after Rocco is shot to death right in front of his m8s, similar to the opening diner scene from Reservoir Dogs, not to mention the dialogue that contains hundreds of uses of the f word, while trying to be funny at the sime time, etc. And the most obvious of them all...
http://i.imgur.com/m4xwWBo.png
Definitely not a bad movie, though. In fact, a rather entertaining one, even though a little over-the-top, especially during the last thirty minutes or so. Never a dull moment, which is good, and the first prayer scene was pretty cool. Oh and Dafoe was fantastic.

Not seen The Faculty of The Boondock Saints. Fight Club is a very good film, and I loved L.A. Confidential when I watched it recently, very stylish love letter to film noir with loads of great characters.
I liked both The Amazing Spider-Man and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The first I liked a lot more when I first saw it and the villain kind of bored me the second time. Then the latter got better on a repeat viewing, originally I preferred the Swedish original, but on the second viewing I enjoyed Fincher's stylistic direction which I originally thought detracted from the original 'gritty' feel I got from the Swedish one.

Yeah, I get that. He was probably the weakest villain in the entire series. I am not sure why they went with him first, but then again, the three that shall not be named had all the good villains in them and still were awful.
