So, she fails for having an opinion that differs from your own?

Perhaps placing films from 2013 so high is a hasty decision, but it's ok if she really enjoys them.

I think so too. Hell, I'd probably put Man of Steel and/or Evil Dead in my top 100.
Mr Minio

Maybe I should make my top 100 too as well. It'd be so hard, as I've seen so many great films it's almost impossible to rank them. It might work as top 200 or 250 though.

Right on. I look forward to seeing it if you do.

I suppose it's better than seeing like some obscure, never heard of film from Bangladesh as someone's #1 movie --- like what happens with a lot of other people on Movie Forums.
Mr Minio
06-23-13, 06:53 PM
Well, I've been thinking about it for a while, but once I recall all the films I rated 4.5 and think I'd have to play the this-one-is-better-but-both-are-masterpieces game, I easily get discouraged. Yearly top 10 list would be a good solution, though.

I don't think it's bad at all! It makes people watch some lesser known flicks and develop their movie tastes, instead of stagnating in mainstream.

Why are you the King of Kinkiness? I seem to enjoy a lot of kinky films, which led to the situation where a MoFo member writes: "Mr Minio should enjoy it, it's got a lot of sex scenes and a rape scene". Just a little title I made up for fun. Been also thinking about The King of Kink, or, way more funny, kinda opposite, The Kink of King. :D
The Kink of Kingliness. Hi, teeter. :)

Well, this has gone in a completely different direction. LOL! Also, the fact that people think that I have failed for ranking 2 films from the last 2 weeks as top are full of it. I really enjoyed those films, while Trainspotting is most likely to be #1 on my next list unless I watch something better. I sometimes wonder why I bother doing these lists because of all the negatives, however I figure if I can get 1 person to watch something that they normally wouldn't because it was on my list. I figure then I win.

I have a lot of movies in my collection which I'm actually ashamed to own, so I have no room to bash you. Also, I'm not sure if he was being sarcastic or not, but the gentleman who said you "failed" has claimed in the past that Superman IV was awesome :)
Granted, I haven't seen the fourth Superman yet, but the general public does seem to frown upon that movie.

I was not a big fan of Man of Steel, and I have no desire to see The Purge, but you still had a generally good list.

I find fascinating the fact that you decided who your number 1 favourite movie was, only 24 hours after seeing it. I find it hard to even rate movies that same day, I normally let them sink in, think about them for a couple of hours (sometimes days) before giving my verdict. But to each his own :)
Indeed. While I decide whether a movie is good or not usually on the first viewing, to rank it alongside other movies takes some time. I decided my favorite movie, in fact, after deliberation when making my list of a movie that I would think I would rank before any other.

I was thinking the same. My top 100 took me weeks of sorting out.
My top 100 was iterated over a dozen times before I posted it here. I first got around 100 movies I liked and ordered them. Later I began to add movies that I remembered that I liked more than the ones on the list. Gradually, the list formed and I posted it here by the time I though it had about 100 films really worth watching in it.

I was being sarcastic about Superman 4. That said I thought it was awesome when I was a little boy, then I watched again recently and was like, OMG LOLBAD.

Not a hater, this was a great list and vast improvement over your top 50 but spoiled a little by the last 2 picks.
The Purge and Man of Steel are basically bad movies and I assume you have just seen once, then thought wow they are going straight to the top of the list.
Most people seem to watch a film a few times and mull over it in their heads a little before it becomes a favourite. For me a favourite film is one I can go back to once a year or so and never really tire of it, even improving a little each time as you notice things you never saw before.
That film you put on a pedestal at number 1 should be something special to you, not just a film that you have seen in the cinema once and appraised as your greatest ever.

See the movie because you want to. If you like it, great! To hell with people who do not like it. And this is coming from the guy who did negative reviews of both The Purge and Man of Steel.

If she likes then fine, but straight to the absolute pinnacle of your own greatest movies ever list. I mean cmon.

So there is a very high squee factor. I had that same feeling after The Expendables.
Sorry teeter. Fell way behind with your list. Congrats on finishing it, even if it was in very unexpected fashion! Man of Steel and The Purge?! Man of Steel in particular was surprising as I thought I remembered you only giving that a 4 initially.
However onto the big news....
Teeter is a woman?!!! I had no clue and for some reason never suspected, probably as a result of much of your taste in films which generally would associate more with a guy. So a woman that loves films like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Terminator and The Faculty? For me that equals

Just for the record, I have been working again on a new list. The Purge and MOS won't be at the very top, but they will be there. I was very much in like with them at the time of doing this list, after having some time to sink in they won't be in the same positions.
