I figured I would throw together my top 50 on here, I had seen other people doing bigger lists and thought I should do one, but then I realized that I hadn't seen near as many movies as them. Haha! So I put together a list going in order of the first ones that popped into my head, I figured that was the easiest way to figure out my favorites. Here is the first set:
50. Airheads
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/3f/Airheads_film_poster.jpg/220px-Airheads_film_poster.jpg
It's just really funny. I like the whole idea of this movie. Even if I dislike Adam Sandler, he was good in this one.
49. Dante's Peak
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/ce/Dantes_peak_ver2.jpg/220px-Dantes_peak_ver2.jpg
I honestly didn't think that this one would be this low on the list, it is my favorite natural disaster flick, but it was up against some good competition.
48. I Am Number Four
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/62/I_Am_Number_Four_Poster.jpg/220px-I_Am_Number_Four_Poster.jpg
This one is a lot more my style than the two that ranked below. I just really liked this one of course my dude Olyphant was in it so that made it even better.
47. Stick It!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/8b/Stickit.jpg/220px-Stickit.jpg
This is by far my favorite comedy movie. It makes it even better that I have a couple nieces that do gymnastics and cheerleading so it makes it funnier to me.
46. The Matrix
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c1/The_Matrix_Poster.jpg
This movie brings me back to high school every time that I watch it. It made me want to get into the computer courses in college, which I dropped out of after a semester. (Stay in school kids)
45. The Dark Knight
https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTOMeRPXJAnz0V28VvJCLUaWsFGq0DOowRVp5FC0VHNV08qq_T5
Yet another one that I am surprised droped this far down on the list once I started putting it together. I liked this one the best of the series because I liked the villans better.

It's ok if you ask me. There's no need for everybody to love arthouse films. I enjoyed The Matrix and Dark Knight Rises as they were pretty entertaining.

44. Iron Man

I really liked Iron Man. I assume the second one would probably be on the list as well if I had actually watched it. I enjoy my super hero movies.
43. The Avengers
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f9/TheAvengers2012Poster.jpg/220px-TheAvengers2012Poster.jpg
I am surprised this one fell this far. Wierd.
42. Joy Ride
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/8b/Joy_Ride_Poster.jpg/220px-Joy_Ride_Poster.jpg
A lot of people give me crap about this movie, but I liked it. I like Steve Zahn.
41. The Skulls
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a8/Theskullsposter.jpg/220px-Theskullsposter.jpg
Another of the many movies that bring me back to another place in my memory. This one I really liked!
40. Colombiana
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/bc/Colombiana.jpg/215px-Colombiana.jpg
I am a fan of movie violence.
39. The Craft

I love this movie! It has action and comedy. It is the quintessential early 90's action movie.
37. Empire Records
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e0/Empire_Records_poster.jpg/220px-Empire_Records_poster.jpg
I like most party movies, but this one is my favorite. The cast was good, it was a little over acted at points but I thought that added to the comedy aspect of it.
36. The Covenant
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4e/The_Covenant.jpg/215px-The_Covenant.jpg
Another movie that people give me crap about. I guess this is one of my guilty pleasure movies. Over acted, but I like the story.
35. The Crow
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/39/Crow_ver2.jpg/220px-Crow_ver2.jpg
I loved the setting of this movie and the story was interesting. The tragedy that happened on set only adds to the sadness of the story for me.
34. The Exorcist
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/7/7b/Exorcist_ver2.jpg/220px-Exorcist_ver2.jpg
This one is my favorite scary movie. This one actually scares me. Most of them don't even make me jump and this one keeps me on the edge of my seat the majority of the way through.
33. Scarface
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/5c/Scarface.jpg/220px-Scarface.jpg
Tony effin Montana! I think that pretty much sums it up.
32. Mystic River
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/9/93/Mystic_River_poster.jpg/220px-Mystic_River_poster.jpg
The story and cast on this movie were fantastic! I loved every part of it.
31. 3:15 The Moment of Truth
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51dr7ns3o3L._SL500_SS500_.jpg
This one brings me back. There probably aren't a lot of people who even know about this movie. I love it! I imagine I would be more critical of it if I watched it again being much older than I was when I watched originally.

24. Chronicle

23. The Basketball Diaries

Since you are a die hard lantern fan, what did you think of the casting of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan? I thought it was a horrible idea. Maybe as Guy Gardner. Maybe.
Loved Chronicle. :yup: One of my favourites of 2012. Underworld I've only seen once and not since its release so don't remember much about it except that I wasn't that impressed. Green Lantern however?!!! Man that was a pretty bad flick! At least you justify it by being a big Lantern fan and saying it's so bad it's good. Nice seeing Varsity Blues on there. I think that film is terribly underrated by most people. A lot of folks see it and don't believe that high school football has that sort of effect on a town and its inhabitants, but it does. It really does.
Most of the action cinematography (during games) is quite good. The actors/stunt doubles, for the most part, did a great job maneuvering about the field with authentic body language and athletic form.

This movie was one that I should have seen a lot sooner than I did and to be honest, if it hadn't been for this site I probably wouldn't have seen it. It was requested I watch it on the movie trade game and I fell head over for this movie! It was funny and it had a lot of action and some of my favorite actors. It was the perfect storm of crazy movie fun for me.

There are so many movies that I have watched that I could have gotten up and taken a shower in the middle of it and not missed anything. This movie, if I turned my head I had missed something important and had to rewind it to figure out what in the world was going on.

I can't recall any. I remember this movie as being a big helping of cheese, with cheese on top and some cheese on the side for dipping. If you know I mean. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining but it wasn't anything I'd consider genuinely good. Still, to each their own. Carry on.

This movie was my introduction to Norman Reedus and so I love it! I bought this movie before watching it because my cousin said it was awesome and he wasn't wrong. The message that I took away from it was that God finds a way to make things right, and I dig that. The prayer that the guys said before killing was cool too.
"And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti."

It is impossible for every movie to receive the love it deserves because there are so many movies that nobody could ever watch more than 10% of all movies ever made.

I love the Boondock Saints, easy one of my 50 favorite movies. It does not have the in depth psychological look at a vigilante like Taxi Driver, or deal with the ethical choices of one like The Dark Knight, or even the grit and very raw emotional rage of Death Wish with regards to rape and revenge, but dammit it is extremely fun! You watch the movie for the performances by Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus, Willem Dafoe, and Billy Connolly. This is a movie that takes vigilantism and just has fun with it. Just enjoy the ride.

Damn. Cobpyth might have been onto something, unintentionally of course. The combination fits so well. David Fincher is a pretty underwhelming director, although The Social Network was really nice. I doomed myself because I was really into Chuck Palahniuk when I was in high school, and Fight Club was like my bible. I of course, in turn, loved the film as well. As I became more into film and whatnot, and started reading more literature, I lost interest in both the novel and film. Not saying either are bad, but I wouldn't say either are great. They're both good, but I've just finally removed them from their pedestals. I started to get pickier each time I watched the movie, but I've finally decided to just never watch it again. I've seen it enough times in my life already.

Literally every page of this thread the choices kept getting worse and worse.
"Dante's Peak" for a start, leading onto 44-39 which were basically all not very good movies, then later we have garbage like "Never Back Down", then "Fast Five", and LOLbad "Green Lantern". It was at this point that I was certain the worst was behind us but sadly, I was wrong, very wrong. The top 20 has 3 total Turkeys in a row, Varsity Blues, Next of Kin and Disturbing Behaviour. WUT!!?? Then Urban Legend, Harry Potter and The Amazingly Bad too soon Spider Man reboot. WTF dude! Then we have Legion and Green Shite, sorry Street cracking your top 5. Green Street was AWFUL, especially the Top Boy's laughable Cockney accent. It wasn't even the best Football Hooligan film out that year.
Good Contender for worst list ever. Granted there are a few of the usually greats in there and plenty of reasonably good quirky favourites but your list is an Epic Fail!

Good list. A bit green as well though there are many movies that I find great there.
Lack of Miyazaki, Kurosawa, Ozu, Tarkovsky and Kubrick makes me a bit sad, though.

Most of them are just a bit before my time I reckon but I have of course seen most of Kubricks work. Just watched Paths of Glory and 2001 for the first time recently, amazing work. I think if I did a top 100, there would be another 3/4 Kubrick films in there. I'm a big fan of Takeshi Kitano.

I will definately get around to watching "Seven Samurai" one day and who knows, if I really love it I will watch more of Kurosawa's stuff. As I said I'm 28 so a lot of that stuff is before my time. You really have to seek out a lot of older movies and I have a bit of a mental block to watch stuff older that 1960, but it's a case of when you do you're not dissapointed.

Well, you can't criticize my lack of favorite listing. :) Coming soon: my top 50 favorite science fiction movies and my top 50 favorite war movies.
I am looking forward to the sci fi list

I plus repped because you are correct in your sentiment but I have to point out that I think all the films you listed are great ones. :p
Ditto.

I have a burning question. Why are Citizen Kane, Forrest Gump, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Pianist and The Artist horrible films?
'Fess up, Teets! :D

Well, in teets defense, Forrest Gump is pretty sh*tty.

I have seen Forrest Gump more times than I can count because every hunting season it is almost all that gets played at the camp, since I am out voted and don't stay there at night. I would rather put a fork in my eyes than watch that movie again. As for the others, I just really didn't like them. I fell asleep the first time I watched Bridge and almost did the second time. It took me 3 times to get all the way through Citizen Kane. I absolutely hated Pianist and Artist. I would rather have my finger nails ripped off slowly than suffer through those again.

As gruesome as your superlatives are they're not really reasons for hating the movies. Not trying to be combative, I just find it difficult to imagine why someone could hate those films that much.

You know my opinion of it is based on having actually seen it, right?

Forrest Gump is a pretty good movie, watched it for the first time recently. Pianist is the best film of the 2000s, it's not intended to be entertaining. The Artist and Citizen Kane I agree with you on though. American History X is a phenomenal drama.

I love Bridge on the River Kwai, Citizen Kane and The Pianist, but I'm not the biggest fan of Forrest Gump either although I probably owe it a rewatch sometime.
Anyway, Teeter_G's list...
The Matrix 4
The Dark Knight 4
Iron Man 3.5
The Avengers 3.5+
The Exorcist 4.5
Mystic River 4.5-
Never Back Down 1.5

Fight Club 4.5+ (underrated, more people seem to like it for it's style rather than genius dark comedy/story)
Green Street 2.5
I really like this list, like many have mentioned you haven't just included classics or art house films for the sake of it, people watch films for different reasons and enjoy all sorts of stuff, this is clearly a list of films you love, and so it should be:up:

Green Streets at number 2 :nope:. As someone mentioned, football factory, rise of the footsoldier and the business are better films than green streets. American History X is a great film, I cant complain about that making number 1.

I've said this on other lists. A personal list is that, personal.
It's one of the main reasons I changed my own a week or two ago. My original had some personal choices, but others were put in high places and others were chosen to kind of "fit in"... but I thought, nah... I'm doing it again, which is why a number were dropped like Rocky films and Rambo films, True Grit and so on... and why LOTR trilogy and Star Wars Trilogy got pushed lower down the rankings too.
I like this list, have repped all of the choices. Though there are some films that I don't like myself, it's teeter_g's list and I like reading up on what other people are into.

If you liked Green Street, you should adore The Firm, one of the best out there, the 1989 film that is and not the later Nick Love one. :yup:

I didn't enjoy the next film as much but you might like it, try Awaydays:

I'm not saying that this list can't or won't possibly change in the future. Who knows, after I watch some more movies these movies may not even make the list any more. Anyway, thanks again you guys for checking out my Top 50 and giving me your feed back. I'm sure there will be a Top 50 Redux in the future. ;)
