Yup just won't let me take screenshots of the downloaded videos...
Hmmm, that's weird. Mine will, if it plays them.
I take that one thing that I said back. When I reformat them with that free trial, Smart FLV Converter Pro, they are an MPEG, but when I send them off to that Zamzar site, I choose the AVI file. I don't know what file size limits they have there, but try that.
I am about to leave, and I won't be back until late tonight. Just so you know.

Those are all awesome 需st铖y.... I'm still trying to decide. I saw a pic last year that I'm trying to run down again... thought I had saved it but still haven't located it if I did... :p
I know that feeling. I have numerous missing. They're on a disc, somewhere in this house.
I am using Rosemary's Baby, for now. I couldn't find any scenes that were long enough, that worked, so I altered that one. It doesn't actually go like that in the movie. That is where she is letting the older man, from down the hall, into her apartment. He wasn't creepy looking enough.
I have saved a couple of the new ones you posted :yup: I bet you can't guess which ones ;D

Yes it is. I notice things in pictures or movies that I haven't seen before. Its really weird. But also funny too. I like it as well. I try to watch the scenes in the background more. Mars Attacks is an example of watching the back ground scenes.

Yep, I can watch a movie one hundred times, and still chance picking up on something new. By then though, it's mainly bloopers.

Hey there nice lady, do you by chance have tool that can shrink down gif files? Monkeypunch says he really likes this gif I left for him in his birthday thread but I can't find a tool online that will allow me to shrink it down to avatar size. They all say its to large of a file.

Yeah, they work, as far as being linkable right inside your post. However, with a list like this, I often copy/paste it to notepad, until later. Then I don't have to come back here, to work on them. Instead, I simply copy/paste the links into my address bar. That's when they don't work, and I need the links that I spoke of.

To answer a question about allowed size, the timing on the GIF avatars, so that everyone can know this . . .
"How long can the length be for an avatar? In other words how many minutes can one avatar be? For example you have a time of 1:05 -1:10. Can they be longer then that?"
The allowed size is 244 KB, and I don't know exactly how long that is, time wise. Mainly because each still has a certain size, and these are all totaled when it is put together. That can vary.
I have found many GIF pictures on-line that were too large, and I had to delete certain stills, to make them fit. Some are just too large, and won't look good anymore.

Depends on what's happening in the animation, I suppose. We don't have terribly fixed rules on violent images, so it's really a case-by-case thing.

Leech Woman is a pretty sick idea. But that whole scene where she's teasing and rubbing her mouth against the guy who's tied up (he thinks it's his girlfriend, who was having sex with him until she silently got killed under the bed - she heard a noise, it was Tunneler) -- anyway, that whole scene is stupid. Why would you think that's a human mouth/face rubbing up against you? She's so small!

One needs to be 35 KB. I suppose you want/need it to be 90 by 90 in size. Since that is a lot of reducing, with it being 992 KB as is, I can make numerous avatars from that one long scene. Then, using that same picture, you want me to make more for this board. I already have that size memorized. Correct me if I am wrong. I'll be back later.

OK, lets see if I can get this link to work Des, depending on what you've got on your computer you may need to update your player to get these to work. I did and my machine is only a month old.
Anyway, this is the ABC web site that has all the episodes of LOST, I think I linked you to it once before so you may not need to update anything.

Hopefully it works and it pops right up for you. If it does just click on the LOST banner and then you can choose whichever episode you want. It shouldn't matter, they run that opening scene during every show.

Open your Animation Shop, which has a free trial as well. Click on the animation tab, and then resize it. When you go to the "Animation" tab, and then click on resize, make sure the "Maintain aspect ratio of . . . " box is NOT checked. That way you can set your size to 110 width, by 90 height, or whatever works for you, and it won't force the one size to alter. You can test your avatar, before saving it to your computer, by clicking on the videotape icon, on the top right side of the task bar. It is beside the arrow cursor/question mark tab. It plays a review of your avatar.
Sizing tips:
To make it larger, when your avatar is open like a film reel, crop any wide-screen shots. To do this, you click on the cropping icon. It's the fourth icon over, underneath "Zoom" on your tool-bar. Outline one of the photos with what all you want left in it, and then click the "Crop" tab.

Some of these are simply animated photos that I found on-line. You can alter them down by opening them in Animation Shop. Crop them, and then resize them like I showed you before. If the file size is still too large, you can delete enough scenes from the avatar, until it reaches the allowed file size for this board.

You can use Photobucket, but I think that way sucks. You can't use a "Maintain aspect ratio" option, so it doesn't give you the 110 by 90 that is allowed here. It's more like a 98 by 90. Something like that.

Martian, I am seriously wanting to kill these stupid dolls. Damn blasted videos. So far I can only get two to convert. Zamzar.com has been stuck on 5% of your one video, for forever now. I was able to convert it, but the scene you want is past what my free trial version is capable of converting. I should be able to convert the other one, but it just won't. So for now, you get two. OK, there was a reason that I posted all of those long, drawn out examples, in the first 5-6 posts of this thread. So they'd be easy to find.
Martian, I received your email. I've answered these questions a few times for you now, so if you ask me again, I'll have to beat you with a stick.
No, there is no on-line site for making these avatars. If there was, I would have made one tiny post, linking you all to it. Instead of making these 5-6 huge, very detailed posts, at the start of this thread.
As for the software that I use for snagging the pictures . . . Again, you need to be able to watch DVDs on your computer. You will use something besides Window's Media Player, because it doesn't allow you to take pictures . . .
Corel InterVideo WinDVD Players (http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Content/1152796555406)
A lot of the DVD software, we have for our computers, has the camera on them. You use that for snagging your screen-shots. I find that this one takes the pictures the fastest. I have yet to have to go back, and retake any. It snags every last screen shot from a scene, in one go. You just need an itchy trigger finger.
Now, you open your video with your DVD software. Some of our hardware comes with this, but the reason I named WinDVD software, is because I know it comes with the camera icon, which is used for taking screen-shots of your movie. I now use the software that came with my burner. Many have the camera option. Just check what you normally watch your movies on, and see if it has this option. Once you get your video playing, and you are near the scene that you want, snap your mouse button as fast as you can, to take the screen-shots.
Either continue asking me to make them, or take the time to read those posts.

Destiny. There's a screenshot I'd like for an avatar, but as yet NOT been able to find it. Theres\'s a show called "Monsterquest" and sometimes during the show, they show a cool "monsters" eye blinking--this shot usually comes in between scenes. Have you seen it? I can't find it on the web...
Just curious because I've had my avatar for a LONG time and was hoping to change it soon.

OK, I had to fix that, to see what it was. That may be tough. There are words on it, and it has a background. Let me try to find a icon, or clip-art. Those work better. That is how I did Sedai's Christmas avatar.

Yeah, that's right.
By the time I lengthen the black background to each still, to make room for a hat, and then add the hat to each still, a good 2 plus hours of my life will be gone . . . forever. :p
I'm sorry, but I honestly don't have the time to make this.
For tough avatars, I really need at least a one day notice.

OK, you best still be here. I didn't like that I had to add them frame by frame, because it's impossible to match the exact same spot each time. It jiggles like Jello! So I did two. The other avatar flashes.

Hey, can you find that scene in a You-tube video? I can't save Hulu videos to my computer. I'm assuming it's because they are full episodes of shows.

OK, how far past 2:57 do you want? What exactly happens? The reason I ask is because of the limit the site now has on avatars file size. See how much of a scene mine is? That was the most I could use. I wanted more, but that was right at the 241 KB file size that's allowed.
This is all I have so far. Let me know what you want changed.

I like to make ones from youtube video. Just dont know if I should load paint.net or some other site. I have a windows movie maker. Think I just need some photo shop then?

Don't answer those questions. I've answered them a hundred times, already. They are also answered on the first page of this thread, in the first 4-6 posts.
I truly believe that you just don't want to take the time to read through all of them, and/or take the time to make them/figure them out for yourself.
You know Spuds, you may have missed my other comment in the shout-box, a couple or so weeks ago. I was talking about how I've made so many avatars, that it's hard for me to miss certain things about them. Say for instance . . . their size!

Back to the Avatars for Dummies book. It's probably a safe bet that said person would not purchase this book, but if they did, they would only flip through to look at the pictures, then be upset because there's no CD included with pre-made avatars.

tehe That must be an admin thing. I don't believe you guys have a setting like we do for our avatars, that makes it stop at 110 x 90. That is the allowed size, and why it was so obvious to me. You were at 110 x 120, now you're bigger. :p Don't let Sexy see it. He's always wanted his to be taller.
I lost my cd that had all my editing progs on it and have to use alt things right now. I think my daughter took it with her when she moved out, because she has all these great looking pics and avatars now. I knew I should have made a copy of it.

That's odd, because I changed it to 120 X 120, uploaded it, then saved the uploaded picture and checked the dimensions. I don't get it.
Yeah, that's what I said. You were 110 x 120. Once you said you fixed it, it was 120 x 120. It was larger. The allowed size is the 110 x 90 that I was talking about.

I don't know, because when I go to upload an avatar my restrictions are 120 x 120. Either way, I reduced it in size by about 15%.
