Both from Waynes World:

Wayne Campbell: Hey, Tiny, who's playing today?
Tiny: Jolly Green Giants and the ****** Beetles.
Wayne Campbell: ****** Beetles? Are they any good?
Tiny: They suck.
Wayne Campbell: Then it's not just a clever name.

Wayne Campbell: If it's a severed head I am going to be very upset

I might have posted this before, but this is my favorite quote:

"Minister: Everything is more complicated than you think. You only see a tenth of what is true. There are a million little strings attached to every choice you make; you can destroy your life every time you choose. But maybe you won't know for twenty years. And you may never ever trace it to its source. And you only get one chance to play it out. Just try and figure out your own divorce. And they say there is no fate, but there is: it's what you create. And even though the world goes on for eons and eons, you are only here for a fraction of a fraction of a second. Most of your time is spent being dead or not yet born. But while alive, you wait in vain, wasting years, for a phone call or a letter or a look from someone or something to make it all right. And it never comes or it seems to but it doesn't really. And so you spend your time in vague regret or vaguer hope that something good will come along. Something to make you feel connected, something to make you feel whole, something to make you feel loved. And the truth is I feel so angry, and the truth is I feel so ****ing sad, and the truth is I've felt so ****ing hurt for so ****ing long and for just as long I've been pretending I'm OK, just to get along, just for, I don't know why, maybe because no one wants to hear about my misery, because they have their own. Well, **** everybody. Amen."

This scene is a classic, but as I re-read it here, I realize that it's not really the dialogue that made the scene work, it was the way that Pesci and Liotta played it...the interplay between the two actors is what makes the scene work, not the dialogue. Pesci is just bone-chilling and it's so much fun watching it dawn on Henry that he may have seriously offended Tommy and that there could be trouble. It's a great scene because of the way the actors played it, not the dialogue.

Catch Me If You Can had some gems.

*Tell me this, Barry Allen, Secret Service. How did you know I wouldn't look in your wallet? - Carl Hanratty

*The same reason the Yankees always win. Nobody can keep their eyes off the pinstripes - Frank Abagnale Jr.

*The Yankees win because they have Mickey Mantle - Carl Hanratty

This quote pretty much maps out the mind set of the two characters. The pinstripes are equivalent to how Frank pulls all his cons. He focuses his victims on a distraction to con them. Sort of like magic. Frank is living in a fantasy world. Carl on the other hand is a realist. The Yankees win because they have the best players. Just like Carl knows the tricks are going catch up to Frank. I think it's a beautiful back and fourth that really gets to the root of the whole movie.

Then I just really like this quote.

Lester Burnham (American Beauty)
I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time... For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars... And yellow leaves, from the maple trees, that lined my street... Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper... And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird... And Janie... And Janie... And... Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday.

Love that speech from American Beauty.

I always liked this scene in the James Bond movie GoldenEye:

Natalya Simonova: You think I'm impressed? All of you with your guns, your killing, your death. For what? So you can be a hero? All the heroes I know are dead. How can you act like this? How can you be so cold?
James Bond: It's what keeps me alive.

The whole of Shawshank Redemption script. Each and every dialog is like butter! That movie is built on words.

Out of the them, the pinnacle would be:

"Sometimes it makes me sad, though... Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. "In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."
- Anton Ego, Ratatouille

"What we say is the truth is what everybody accepts... I mean, psychiatry: it's the latest religion. We decide what's right and wrong. We decide who's crazy or not. I'm in trouble here. I'm losing my faith."
- Kathryn Railly, 12 Monkeys

"Man, I see in Fight Club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables – slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
- Tyler Durden, Fight Club

And also, I love the entire exchange between Vesper and Bond in Casino Royale,

Vesper: So there is a plan? I got the impression we were risking millions of dollars and hundreds of lives on a game of luck. What else can you surmise, Mr Bond?
Bond: About you, Miss Lynd? Well, your beauty's a problem. You worry you won't be taken seriously.
Vesper: Which one can say of any attractive woman with half a brain.
Bond: True. But this one overcompensates by wearing slightly masculine clothing. Being more aggressive than her female colleagues. Which gives her a somewhat prickly demeanor, and ironically enough, makes it less likely for her to be accepted and promoted by her male superiors, who mistake her insecurities for arrogance. Now, I'd have normally gone with "only child," but, umm, you see, by the way you ignored the quip about your parents...I'm going to have to go with "orphan."
[Long pause]
Vesper: All right...by the cut of your suit, you went to Oxford or wherever. Naturally you think human beings dress like that. But you wear it with such disdain, my guess is you didn't come from money, and your school friends never let you forget it. Which means that you were at that school by the grace of someone else's charity: hence that chip on your shoulder. And since you're first thought about me ran to "orphan," that's what I'd say you are.

[B]Vesper: Oh, you are? I like this poker thing. And that makes perfect sense! Since MI6 looks for maladjusted young men, who give little thought to sacrificing others in order to protect queen and country. You know...former SAS types with easy smiles and expensive watches.
[Bond glances at his wrist]
Vesper: Rolex?
Bond: Omega.
Vesper: Beautiful. Now, having just met you, I wouldn't go as far as calling you a cold-hearted bastard…
Bond: No, of course not.
Vesper: But it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine. You think of women as disposable pleasures rather than meaningful pursuits. So, as charming as you are, Mr. Bond, I will be keeping my eye on our government's money and off your perfectly formed arse.
Bond: [smiles ironically] You noticed.
Vesper: Even accountants have imagination. How was your lamb?
Bond: Skewered. One sympathises.
[pause]
Vesper: Good evening, Mr Bond.
Bond: Good evening, Miss Lynd.

Dialogue is key to movies. Some phrases will in fact stand the test of time like "May the force be with you" from Star Wars and "Put the lotion in the basket" from Silence of the Lambs. What are some your favorite or most memorable movie quotes that you will remember for the rest of your life?

FIGHT CLUB--- "Do not talk about Fight Club" "Clean food! "and the best of all, Clint Eastwood said to Marsha Mason, Clint says, "Did we fail to mutually nurture each other?" ( he read a lotta women's books.,plus: "Frankly, my Dear, I don't give a damn!" from Gone with the Wind. "As God is my witness, I'll never be poor again!"--Scarlet screams. (Somewhere I got, "People feel murdering or killing someone is too horrible to ever do.ItS the FIRST death that's hard; after that, it's easy." (It's true, though, once you break that rule, & kill a human being, its not forbidden anymore. It becomes EASY. too easy. That's exactly why it's forbidden.)

But this is my favorite, Clint says, "Did we fail to mutually nurture each other?" can you imagine Clint saying that? HAH! funnisst thing i ever heard!

I would try to post the last speech by McBeth, while he's losing the final battle against Burnham Wood, and Lady McBeth has just died;"Day after day, this petty...." (but i'm bad at quoting.) That is one of my fave lines, cause McBeth saw all the futility, and that it all signified nothing.--all the struggle, war, blood-letting, ambition-- it means nothing in the end. Shakespeare saw it.

From Brief Encounter:

"Fred, dear Fred. There's so much that I want to say to you. You're the only one in the world with enough wisdom and gentleness to understand. If only it was somebody else's story and not mine. As it is, you're the only one in the world that I can never tell. Never never. Because even if I waited until we were old, old people and told you then, you'd be bound to look back over the years and be hurt. And my dear, I don't want you to be hurt. You see, we're a happily married couple and let's never forget that. This is my home. You're my husband. And my children are upstairs in bed. I'm a happily married woman - or I was, rather, until a few weeks ago. This is my whole world, and it's enough, or rather, it was until a few weeks ago. But, oh, Fred, I've been so foolish. I've fallen in love. I'm an ordinary woman. I didn't think such violent things could happen to ordinary people."

"I wish you'd stop talking. I wish you'd stop prying and trying to find things out. I wish you were dead - no, I don't mean that. It was silly and unkind, and I shouldn't have said it. But I do wish you'd stop talking."

"I meant to do it, Fred, I really meant to do it. I stood there trembling right on the edge, but I couldn't. I wasn't brave enough. I should like to be able to say that it was the thought of you and the children that prevented me but it wasn't. I had no thoughts at all, only an overwhelming desire not to feel anything ever again. Not to be unhappy anymore. I turned. I went back into the refreshment room. That's when I nearly fainted."

Salieri: Mediocrities everywhere... I absolve you... I absolve you... I absolve you... I absolve you... I absolve you all.

Pulp Fiction xD

Jules: Well, there's this passage I've got memorized, sorta fits the occasion. Ezekiel 25:17? "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord...

One of the most heartbreaking and thought-provoking lines of all time in my opinion. From the movie Her:

Samantha:It's like I'm reading a book... and it's a book I deeply love. But I'm reading it slowly now. So the words are really far apart and the spaces between the words are almost infinite. I can still feel you... and the words of our story... but it's in this endless space between the words that I'm finding myself now. It's a place that's not of the physical world. It's where everything else is that I didn't even know existed. I love you so much. But this is where I am now. And this is who I am now. And I need you to let me go. As much as I want to, I can't live in your book any more.

I don't know if it's been done in this thread yet, but one of my favorite quotes ever was from Virtuosity. Sid 6.7 (Russell Crowe) says to Parker Barnes ( Denzel Washington):

"Just because I'm carrying around the joy of killing your family inside me doesn't mean we can't be friends." Lol. Love it!

Chief Billy Sunday - Men of Honor

http://denirofan.net/wp-content/uploads/men-of-honor-13.jpg

"A navy diver is not a fighting man he is a salvage expert, if it's lost underwater he finds it, if it's sunk he brings it up, if it's in the way he moves it, if he's lucky he will die some 200ft beneath the waves for that is the closest he will get to being a hero!"

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I don´t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That´s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you worth, go out and get what you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits. And not pointing fingers saying: You ain´t what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain´t you! You´re better than that

"Maybe all men got one big soul everybody's a part of, all faces are the same man." - Private Witt, The Thin Red Line

"I have to believe in a world outside my own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning, even if I can't remember them. I have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world's still there. Do I believe the world's still there? Is it still out there?. Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I'm no different." - Leonard Shelby, Memento

"Get to the chopper!" - Dutch, Predator :D

"I don't need the gun John. I can beat you. I DON'T NEED NO GUN! AND I'LL KILL YOU NOW!" - Bennett, Commando

''You forget your old life, you can't come back, you can't call, you can't write. You never look back. You make a new life for yourself and you live it, you hear me? You live your life the way it should have been. But maybe, this is dangerous, but maybe after a couple of years, you send word to Naturelle. You get yourself a new family and you raise them right, you hear me? Give them a good life, Monty. Give them what they need. You have a son, maybe you name him James. It’s a good strong name. And maybe, one day, years from now long after I'm dead and gone, reunited with your dear Ma, you gather your whole family together and tell them the truth: who you are, where you come from. You tell them the whole story. Then you ask 'em if they know how lucky they are to be there. It all came so close to never happening. This life came so close to never happening."
