Heading to Iceland in a couple of days for some Northern Lights and whale watching so I wont be on here until the New Year more than likely. Happy New Year and all that to everyone.

I'll probably be pretty scarce for the next week and a half.
I'm going to Idaho with my parents to meet my mom's biological mother plus various other new relatives. We'll be driving there and I don't know how much internet access or time I'll have while I'm away. I should be back on the 12th.

No. She only just got in contact with her for the first time a few months ago.
My mom took a DNA test through Ancestry.com and later they gave her a list of possible relatives. She knew her biological mother's first name was Betty and that she lived in Idaho, so when a Betty from Idaho came up in the results, she mailed her a letter. Betty responded right away and has been very interested in meeting all of us. So have Betty's other children.

I am afraid if I don't commit to not posting here, then I will be tempted to post about the next terror attack and again the cycle of accusation and counter accusation will continue. So I might come to read some threads but won't post .
If anybody wants to read my movie reviews that person can search for 'ashdoc's movie reviews' on Google. They are available on several Indian forums .

I keep away from the terrorist thread, there's good and bad in all races, religions and faiths, it's not worth the upset of arguing over it.

Honestly, I've recently questioned my point here. I find myself drifting over to the Intermission side of the site far too often. Part of me enjoys a good debate and it is refreshing to see considerate posts made by those I disagree with, but I would be a liar if I did not admit that part of my draw is due to the baser lust of the argument.
I don't know what to think about that.
I understand your point here on leaving; at least for what I can understand in as short of a time as I've been here to follow your posts. Nebbit does have a good point too, though! Come swim back in the shallow end of the General Movie tab a bit more and let's get back to the movies. Isn't that why we're here? From the start?
If you are out though, then I wish you well and only hope for the best for you and yours. I wish you would stay though =\

Then do what I did, walk away from the terror attack threads and focus on more light subjects like movies. You'll find your spirits lifted and your heart lighter. You're a good movie reviewer so focus on that instead.

I've been to Greece many times, on different islands... Actually, this is my second time to Kos, but I was only like 3 years old last time, so yeah. :D I've been to Corfu twice, Rhodes once and Crete once as well.
Yeah, I just bought a new Canon DSLR, so I'll be bringing some pictures for sure. :up:

I was on Kos last year. When I saw news about earthquake I was shocked. I've seen in TV people on the airport, who were waiting for a flies to their homes. Really sad. Kos is the poorest island in Greece. Last year there were little tourists because of news about dangerous immigrants (I haven't seen any). This year earthquake... They don't have lucky. Anyway I'm glad You got back safely:)

I have no idea, ash, but I imagine if the site wanted to ban you, they'd just lock out your ID at the start??? Don't know why your IP would be blocked, but your ID would be accessible.
Sounds like we need some moderation to clear up the matter.

ashdoc's IP was not banned, and he was not temporarily banned, either. As far as I can tell his IP changed, and fell within the range banned at some point in the past because spam was coming from it.
A reminder that it costs nothing to simply ask about these things, rather than jumping to conclusions about what may have happened or why.

This week is my last week in work then I will be going home to look after the kids and my wife will return to work early from maternity leave. My leave ends in May so I'll be back on here then. I'll be on here before I go but this Thursday will probably be my last time until I return to work. I usually only get a chance to come on here during lunchtime.
Have to say, I cant wait to get home.

That's good to hear. Not the end of the world bit, that's not great. But you cant do much wrong with Bergman. You seen Sawdust and Tinsel? I find it one of his best but most underrated. All good with me thanks.

I'll be gone for the next few days because Hubby and I are taking the weekend off to go visit some friends near Lancaster, PA. It's the first time we're going away since the pandemic started and we're a bit concerned about staying in a hotel. (Hopefully the hotel is actually keeping up with cleaning everything properly, but we're bringing Lysol to clean all the surfaces, and the TV remote control, and our own sheets and pillowcases for the bed, and towels for the bathroom, just in case.)
If all goes well, we should be back on Monday. I hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Yes, Lancaster, PA. Our friends live closer to the Poconos area, but we live on Long Island, NY, so this is a good meeting point for us. There are a lot of nice hotels, plenty of things to do, and a great variety of restaurants. I highly recommend Shady Maple Smorgasbord (https://www.shady-maple.com/smorgasbord) for anyone who's looking for a good restaurant in that area.

We used to try to meet there on one of our birthdays whenever we could because their price is pretty high, so the free meal was a great way to save money, but we missed the last few years because of the pandemic.
This was the first time that we've been back there since before the pandemic, and they were better than ever. (But we just couldn't time it to meet for one of our birthdays, so there was no free birthday meal this time.)
