What character(s) in this particular film(s) also seem the weakest?
In West Side Story, the characters that are the strongest, in no particular order are: the fiery, fiesty Anita and the sardonic but equally fiery Shark gang leader, Bernardo, the exuberant, cocky Jet gangleader, Riff, Anybody's the tomboy and sort of Jets "wannabe", and Ice, the handsome, calm, cool and collect Jet who takes over the Jets leadership after Riff's death in the Rumble. Chino, who's Bernardo's right-hand man and another Shark gangmember, is also another strong character, as is Action, the hot-tempered instigator-troublemaking Jet, the weasly A-Rab, and the immature, constantly scared and awed Baby-John, who's the youngest member of the Jets.
Maria is sweeter and calmer than Anita, but Richard Beymer, I'm afraid, is a rather weak, lacklustre Tony. The Jet girls, Velma & Graziella, are girlish and bubbly, while the Shark girls are no less girlish, but more serious than the Jet girls.
Would love to get some feedback on this question. Any thoughts?
