Overrated Actors

I actually really liked The Woman In Black, Radcliffe's stuff has been good, but I haven't seen anything from the other two.

I cannot agree that the departed was mark wahlberg's best role
his best role was obviously the porn movie one.

Agree, he was rather good in that, well I didn't think of Harry Potter at all so that was good enough for me.

I went to go see it the day it came out (it was the day right after my birthday) and at one point in the movie I stood up and yelled "Use your wand, Harry!".

I got a lot of nasty looks from people on the way out after the movie ended.

I would have punched you in that cinema screening if you really did that.

I went to a movie theater in a smaller town because I didn't get the tickets in time to go to the Imax.

My friends were laughing their asses off, I felt kind of bad, but I was holding that phrase back for the majority of the movie.

I saw "Black Swan," and it didn't blow me away. I didn't think that Portman's performance was all that impressive, either. Just an opinion.

I would certainly not label Portman as 'underrated' not by a LONG SHOT. 'Underrated' suggests that the actor doesn't get the credit they deserve, in combination with not getting an ample amount of roles in big studio releases. Portman has been cranking out movies over the past 3 years and got nominated for an Oscar. Far from 'underrated' if you ask me.

I think most moviegoers, the Academy awards, the screen actor guild, the Golden globes, the British Academy awards, and the Film critic choice awards disagree with that. But that is just us.

You can get nominated or win an academy award and be underrated. Look at Edward Norton. Making a bunch of movies doesn't mean she isn't underrated.

How is she underrated, then? This is how it works, see...someone says their opinion and lists the reasons behind formulating that opinion. I really do want to know why you think Natalie Portman is 'underrated.' No sarcasm.

I'll write it then! She has been in the industry for 20 years and she has played numerous roles which can be a bit of a hassle for some actresses. She did College while doing Movies.

But pretty much what Powderfinger wrote. And that despite her academy award, she really doesn't get the recognition that she deserves. Maybe it is because she doesn't have any scandals and is a good girl. But until it was announced that she got hitched, she hadn't been talked about much in a while.

This is the definition of underrated. Verb:Underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something): "a very underrated film".

She can get any script she wants. How is that not getting the recognition she deserves? Why does she need to be on E! 24/7 for her to not be underrated?

Good grief. She doesn't get recognition from the media like say an Angelina Jolie does. That is underrated (she is better than Jolie imo). It has nothing to do with the studios in this case. Of course they will offer her scripts. They know she is the s**t.

So until she becomes a tabloid queen she won't be considered rated highly enough. And by then you can call her overrated congrats. You're arguing for an incredibly impotent concept.

Once again missing my point. Would you say Angelina Jolie is in the headlines for bad things (nowadays), or Scarlett Johansson? Hell Kim Kardasian who isn't even a real actress gets talked about more.

You don't have to be a tabloid person to be talked about you know that right?

^How else is an actor/actress overrated if someone isn't talking about them in terms of their ability in the media? Can't say someone is overrated if no one is constantly tooting that horn of that artist.

I think it was you who mentioned Angelina Jolie. If not, I'm sure you'll see the point anyway. How often is Angelina Jolie mentioned in the media for her talent? Being on the covers of magazines, turning up at red carpet events, doing promo stuff or being papped isn't the same as being rated.

IMO, Portman is rated more highly as an actress than Jolie, though I'm not sure she should be.
