Kevin Smith and his films

just woundering, what dose everyone think of Kevin Smith's films and what one of his are your favourites ?

I liked Clerks and Mallrats and the Clerks cartoon. Chasing Amy was good, but I didn't like it as much as the other two. I didn't see Dogma.

THose four I mentioned (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma) are pretty much it.

i agree that Mallrats and Clerks are his best two, Dogma's worth a watch but without Jay and Silent Bob would have been hard to tell it was by Kevin Smith

In Soviet America, you sue MPAA!
I thought Kevin Smith did the Scream films? I think I'm wrong though....maybe it was Kevin Williams? or is he the guy that did Dawsons Creek?!?! AGG!! I'm so confused.

Kevin Williamson wrote Scream and Scream 2 (as well as I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Faculty and Teaching Mrs. Tingle). He is also the executive producer and creative force behind Dawson's Creek.

And he directed Teaching Mrs. Tingle.

Kevin Smith is a completely different person.

Kevin Smith’s Hit Somebody has new-ish titles

On his Twitter, Kevin Smith has announced that his two-part “final” film, a hockey dramedy called Hit Somebody with have a very Hobbit-inspired re-titling. Hit Somebody: Home and Hit Somebody: Away are what they’re called now, with Home‘s script 100% done and aiming for a PG-13 rating. Away will look to be R, as Smith is finishing the script now.
As said in the end credits of Red State, look for Hit Somebody: Home and Away in 2012.

Gosh, he's such a cutie.

Oh come now. Clerks, Clerks 2, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl, Zack and Miri Make a Porno. These he wrote and directed while he only directed Cop Out. And a few episodes of Reaper. Red State wrapped recently but I don't know if it's out yet.

I think there's already a couple of threads like this.

I liked Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, but only because I was high as a kite when I watched them

I've heard decent things about Chasing Amy and Jersey Girl, but still haven't got around to watching either.

Mallrats is OK, slightly humorous but kind of boring.

I'd rather slide down a stair handrail covered with razorblades and land in a pile of salt than watch Cop Out.

The first Kevin Smith film I watched was Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, then I pretty much worked my way backwards from there. I do still like Jay & Silent Bob, as stupid as it is. Only one of his I haven't seen is Cop Out, started watching it but it seemed quite bad so I turned it off. Zack & Miri Make a Porno is probably my favourite of his now. However, I prefer his "Evening With" Q&A talks to all of his movies.

I always liked Chasing Amy best with Clerks being a really close second. I always thought Chasing Amy was his best overall movie while Clerks was his funniest. With that said Chasing Amy does have one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie:

I don’t remember ever laughing so hard at anything as I did at that the first time (and dozen times after) I saw that speech.

I also always loved Mallrats and I still think it’s really funny. Same with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. You just have to take it for what it is…a stupid comedy. If you go into it expecting any kind of real story than you’re going to be disappointed.

Dogma on the other hand I never really liked. Don’t get me wrong there are some parts that are really funny but as a whole there was something that I could never place a finger on that I just didn’t like about it. That always bothered me too because I wanted to like it so much since I was such a Kevin Smith fanboy when I was younger not to mention I agree a lot with his views on the subject matter.

Clerks 2 I didn’t think needed to be made and I didn’t really care for it the first time I saw it. However the second time I watched it I warmed up to it. If I watch it a few more times than hopefully it will grow on me some more.
