Jordan originally finished the date category and made the one about twist endings, and then was worried he was ruining the experience of all mofos who hadn't seen the flicks yet.

So he pmed everyone that had responded, and we deleted our posts and started anew.

that was the plan.

but Ash over-ruled apparently.
Dexter,

Thanks very much for explaining this in my absence...even though it all seems in vain now thanks to ash...

Talking of ash, I hope you can all now see why I wanted to start the "new 13" afresh...oh well, life goes on I spose...

Back on point:

lol. someone should have said something in the thread. Sinny McGuffins was all "what's going on?" so as far as i knew, we had two things going on at once.

:shrugs:

Yeah it was confusing because of all the deleted posts. Should have explained to the whole thread that you changed your mind. Oh, well. No biggie. Let's get on with the game...

13 Movies where you give the single acting Oscar win to another equally-deserving cast member (nominated or not)

1. American Beauty - Annette Bening

i'm a little confused by this category. can you try re-wording it? or just tell me.
ash,

Here's the deal:

1) concentrating on the four acting categories ONLY, find a film which won one Oscar (eg: American Beauty - the only acting Oscar went to Kevin Spacey)

2) imagine you now have to take away Spacey's Oscar and award it to another cast member you think was also deserving of a win (eg: Annette Bening - who happened to be nominated). However, you may wish to "give" that Oscar to eg Thora Birch (not nominated). Either is a valid choice. As long as the award is "given" to a fellow cast member of the actual winner, it matters not whether they were actually nominated.

The result, I suppose, is to illustrate who we think was robbed of an Oscar from the films we choose.

Hope this is now all clear...just wanted to throw a category out there to make us think a little....

All good people are asleep and dreaming.
You mean like takeaway Frances McDormand's Oscar for Fargo and give it to William H. Macy.

I guess that would be 2.

Precisely Loner!

In your example, you picked somebody who was actually nominated (Macy). You could just as easily have picked Steve Buschemi (for example) despite the fact he was not nominated. If you think he deserved a win, feel free to list him!

So, this is where we are now:

There's probably loads more but that's the first one that sprang to mind. That and Annette Bening had already been said.

13 Movies where you give the single acting Oscar win to another equally-deserving cast member (nominated or not)

10. The Departed - Leonardo Dicaprio

11. Gone With the Wind - Vivien Leigh
Neither of these choices are valid as nobody won an Oscar for acting in The Departed. In the case of Streetcar, THREE actors won for acting including Vivien Leigh herself!

Any listing here must be for a film which won ONE Oscar only for acting. You are then required to "give" that Oscar to any other deserving cast member of your choice.

Therefore, as of now, our list looks like this:

1. American Beauty - Annette Bening
2. Fargo - William H. Macy
3. Goodfellas - Ray Liotta
4. The Color of Money- Tom Cruise
5. Rosemary's Baby - Mia Farrow
6. Gladiator - Joaquin Phoenix
