If you're not aware, a workprint of this has been leaked so guessing some people may have seen this already. Moving conversation from shoutbox over here......

Regardless, I think OG- and anyone who hated the first film will hate this one. It does feel rushed and some of it's unconvincing... far fetched. But it was interesting. I read that Eli Roth doesn't wanna make a 3rd film. Good because it won't turn into the never ending, flashback filled Saw series.

Also what was the point in her giong back to that house, so many things didn't make sense or work and characters dismissed stupidly.

I'm not certain what you mean by "her going back to that house". Was it when Beth went to Sasha and Axelle's house?

If so....

WARNING: "Hostel 2" spoilers below
I'm guessing it's so we could see Sasha's decapitated head collection... which now included the guy who survived the first film!

Contains Spoilers, though can't see how any of it would spoil anything....

I said above, the whole concept of Hostel is people being tortured and Hostel 2 fails remarkably at capitalising on this principle. It starts with that technique seen numerous times in horrors of tying up the original, only was just unspeakably poor, the hospital scene was see-through from the start and the dream was a complete waste, though still would've been better than killing the character off-screen. Which is another thing Hostel 2 needlessly copped out with, only two characters to memory got killed onscreen! Editing and cutting meant the three other main characters who died did so offscreen and only in one case was there even a corpse to be shown. The film pushes no buttons what so ever, it can't ellicit any form of emotional response except boredom. I can just imagine Roth smirking at his film admiring how he characterised the two torturers who don't create any sense of fear or intrigue, especially when they're both of Desperate Housewives. Gah. I don't want to waste any more time typing about it. Don't see it. It doesn't even have the slightest element of fun from the original, as technically competent as it may be, there's nothing of merit.

It was completely un-needed. They could've taken her straight to the place instead of that detour, like you say, that bit of reveal for the audience was the only reason, no internal logic to it.

Oh, and those children were a joke. Why oh why did he keep them.

SPOILERS!!!!

I wasn't bored at all with the film. The first film is more boring because it takes so long to really get going. In this one, the fright scenes start at the beginning. I think him getting killed in the hospital would have been better than what actually happened, but I guess that was just used to build tension. Yet what occurred in the kitchen happened so quickly that I (as well as people who talked about this in other forums) were like, "Did he just die?" I thought he was the guy cutting down the tree with the chainsaw. I guess that was supposed to be hired help.

Anyway, I enjoyed the way he showed girls going to the hostel in comparison to the guys from the first film. The guys went to have sex with really hot babes. The girls are lured by the promise of bathing in HOT SPRINGS. And I love how when the trio walks into the hostel at first you see the two bimbos watching Pulp Fiction turn around to look and then go back to the movie. You know if it had been guys walking in they would have got up and put on a cute girl show.

The fact that the two buyers are Desperate Housewives stars is irrelevant, at least to me. I don't watch the show. But I liked seeing the whole bidding process.

The death scene of Heather Matarazzo's character is the highlight of the whole picture. In fact, it's the highlight of both movies. Of course you need to watch Matarazzo's character throughout the movie before she dies to really feel something for her, but it's still a disgusting, sick death on its own. Of course, people who dislike Matarazzo's quirky nerd character may cheer, "YAY! She's finally gone!", but damn, did it have to be done like that? If I ever meet her in person I'm giving her a big hug for her character. That was twisted. It's the most "torture porn" out of all the torture porn films. The Saw series and Wolf Creek are OWNED by that scene alone.

When Lionsgate sent me the workprint, I was excited. At say down and got ready for a good piece of art. Unfortunately, Hostel 2 was poorly done and I was disappointed. It started out perfectly, yet once the girls got to the hostel, it turned out terrible. Sure some killings were somewhat disturbing (ex. the lady bathing in blood), the first Hostel showed that the true meaning of real intense horror.

I'm sorry Jrs, but "good piece of art"; are you on crack or some shiit? W-T-F. Hostel showing the true meaning of real intense of horror? Seriously man, c'mon! It was awful, anyone who as taste in movie knows it is a bit poo. Oh wait, i said someone who has taste and doesn't just love every Blockbuster or film the IMDB board's posters irrationally love.

By saying good 'piece of art' I meant good piece of filmwork. Hostel 2 was no where near it. And yes, Hostel did show real intene filmed horror that scared me and plenty others shi*less.

Oh, and I do not love every friggin' movie.

What a shambles our society is in then.

Dozens of films have used the same techniques Roth did, Hostel didn't present anything new or interesting, it was lame recycling and bland. Just to point out i did somewhat enjoy the first but don't think it deserves ANY of the credit people who clearly haven't stepped out the Multiplex to see a film give it. It was presented as something of an exploitational film, yet the only thing it exploited was the audiences wallet.

I didn't say every film. I said every Blockbuster. Maybe i exagerated a bit, but i swear most new releases are the best film ever in your book.

Well, it's out now and it did terrible at the box office this weekend... #6, earned $8.75 million.

Thanks for that. I really think we should charge all the retards for downloading the movies. Maybe then they would go somewhere else.

Well, it is an easy to mistake to expect to download a film from a Review section. Yoda would be pretty minted if he got a dollar for every numpty who comes here lol.

I just googled it because i'm sure it's used on a TV show or something and got quite a lot of results for it- it's Scotland's favourite word lol.

what the **** it bleeped out my ****ing swears
i hate this ****ing peice of **** site!

Well... you won't have to worry about it bleeping out any more words... 'cause you have been banned. Don't come back now.. ya hear...

From the sounds of it, it sounds like this is a pretty good movie. I am looking forward to seeing it sometimes with my friends. I have seen Hostel 1 and that is it and that was enough, but I need to see this one. haha.

New kid on the block... old hat in the biz
I loved it the first time I saw it. Better than the original. Upon second viewing though, my enthusiasm has waned a little bit.

The only thing I could think of is that they wanted the muscle around. I mean sure, Sasha had a gun and all...... and the goons couldn't have been all that far away.... but hey, that's the best I can come up with.

Or maybe they figured it would be easier to knock Beth out at home after she fell asleep in her bed? Then again, they obviously had no problem conking her out at the spa.....

On second thought, you're right. Even as I'm thinking up these explanations, I'm coming up with counter-arguments to those explanations just as quickly.

Lorna's death scene was something else though, I have never seen anything like it. I wish the rest of the movie wasn't just a bunch of cut scenes. I had to rewind back to the point they bandaged up Whitney's head to just to make sure I hadn't missed her death scene. I kept expecting her to pop back into screen with a *cut* up face, and then bam! The movie ended.

Edit: Whoops, my bad. I forgot you guys had a censor in place here.

Hostel 2 is one of those movies that i didn't intend on ever watching but i was passing through my movie channels and it was on and i have to admit i couldnt stop watching...yes thee plot is ridiuclous but it entertainedme

Maybe I just really like Cabin Fever, so I let the first part of Hostel part one go and still labeled it as a good movie. But I really did think that the second one was good. I mean, they had a good beginning that tied up the loose ends from the first one, and it carried through as a good horror flick.
