Austin Powers in Goldmember

Tools

Two new articles on our International Man of Mystery's third outing:

Firstly, the teenage Austin has een cast. Not as accurate as the teenage Evil (see earlier pages in thread), but still close enough. For a little bit of info, and a picture or two, follow this link:

Secondly, they have indeed LOST the name/title of Goldmember! Next stop? I don't know. I'm still going with Austin Powers in MGM Sucks. We should start a petition. Meanwhile, here's the article:

I just want to point out, this isn't a court case, this is a private MPAA matter. They would have no case to sue in court since parody is protected under fair use. However the MPAA has their own rules.

Oh and yes, It pisses me off too.

Isn't MGM in financial trouble anyways? They're probably just looking for cash any way possible.

Its not like Austin hurts bond, the last 3 bond films have brought in over a billion dollars together.

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
MGM, IMO is doing fair, but they're not doing great.

I guess they're mad that a spoof of their Bond movies can bring in so much. That's probably why they were so quick to throw a fit this time.

It's a bit of a generalisation, but isn't sorta like MGM only really has the Bond titles doing anything for them?

Firstly, this:

New Title?! Could the days of Goldmember hassles be gone, over, passed?! They could have a new title! A good one, just as good as the one that caused the trouble. This one? License to Shag.

http://filmforce.ign.com/ap3/articles/354189p1.html

But then this:

It's all crap.
They don't even like the title. AND NOR DO!!
It should be Goldmember dammit!!

http://filmforce.ign.com/ap3/articles/354227p1.html

At least they actually don't like it. Rather than having stupid MGM chuck a hissy git over it.

I like that title (License To Shag) but Shag was used in the last title, The Spy Who Shagged Me.

Also, if they tried to use License To Shag, wouldn't MGM try to stop that title too?

S.C.

Yeah, except no doubt if they wanted to use License to Shag (which they don't) they would take it through the proper channels, which they didn't do with Goldmember (and the reason they were prohibited from using it).

I don't doubt they'd get it through this time if they went about it properly, but I also think they can do better for a title.

Sometime after the release of The Spy Who Shagged Me, I came up with an idea for the third movie, and I called it Austin Powers: Threesomes Are Not Enough. It began with Pauline Powers giving birth to baby Austin, Dr.Evil was the doctor, and it later introduced Austin's sister, Austina, to be played by Myers.

S.C.

Dr. Evil couldn't deliver Austin because, get this, they're the SAME AGE. They're contemporaries of each other.

And you were going to just waltz on in and give the New Line people this idea.

"Hi, I'm a fan, and I've got this idea for the next Austin Powers film...."

Yeeeeeeah.

What is with you today? I feel like giving you a good Zsa Zsa Gabor slapping.

In my story, Dr. Evil would be revealed as being much, much older than we thought. And NO, I wasn't going to waltz myself into New Line Studio and pitch to them my idea! Even though, they may have liked it...

S.C.

Yeah, but would they let S.C just waltz in and pitch an idea?
I don't think so.

I'm not old, you're just 12.
Unless they already have a new title, they should go with Austin Powers in: Dr. No Title....Really piss MGM off. I mean screw 'em if they can't take a joke!
