Darkness/Light/Darkness (1989, Jan Švankmajer)

Well that was a strange one. Cracked me up though.

Liked Hedgehog in the Fog a lot. Here's my review for anyone interested.

Nice review!

I really love the vibe of how the animals encountered seem foreboding and menacing on the outside, yet you never get the sense the hedgehog is in any actual danger. And, of course, the mystery surrounding the horse is compelling.

This is a contender for greatest film ever made for me.
It's a more than fair choice. Here's what I wrote about it on Letterboxd:

Very grisly, but at the same time, the camerawork (framing, close-ups, pan outs, etc.) is top notch and, as a result, it remains interesting from beginning to end. Brakhage captures all kinds of great shots which would be just as technically impressive if he depicted non-grisly imagery. When a film has this much texture to the camerawork, it's indeed something special, even when autopsy footage is being depicted.

We've finally made it to the last 15, which matters to me, because I have a personal list of 15 shorts I was hoping to see here. We'll have to see how disappointed I wind up being. 🤓

Nice choice!

Hints for my list:

1 Looney Tunes short

2 Disney shorts

2 by David Lynch

1 by Terry Gilliam

1 Animated Holiday special

1 made in 1943

You got two correct.

But my list are all ones I don't believe have been in your list yet, and Duck Amok and Grandmother have both already come up.

Here are some clues for the rest:

1 animated film set during Irish War of Independence

1 involving puppets

1 collection of short animations

1 with the more characters than any other film in this list

1 about opiate addiction

1 "I'm not sure if music videos count"

1 about dancing

A Song of Love (1950, Jean Genet)

WELL!

That was... overt.

I thought of one more short film I forgot to add to 'ones I hope to see'.

The clue is it's practically a twin sibling of 'Apaches'.

Which one are you referring to?

I'm saying one of the shorts I hope to see in your list's final 13 films is very similar to Apaches (1977).

I was going to wait and see if it appeared or not, but I can just say it if you like.
