The idea that Blanc and another character are actually running a ruse on all the other characters to solve a murder we actually don't even know occurred yet is a completely unexpected twist (though it answers most of my head-scratching).

I am actually left a little bit confused, I've grown up from a teenager to a 50 year-old, thinking of this movie as some low-budget cult-film, just a curio for stoners and Reggae fans.

And Zendaya has, to me at least, such astonishing on-screen presence that she nearly stole the movie without actually being in it (relatively).

I mean, no one in the movie is actually an actor, they're all just real Rastas, mostly reggae-musicians, and hell, Leroy's wife is actually played by...

I actually thought I remembered reading some ret-con where they claimed that they made it so absurd on purpose as some kind of statement, a satire that maybe I could laugh along with, but after doing some more reading apparently that is not the case, apparently this is just the movie they were tryin...

It's a really bloody film for its time.

But viewed less a movie and more as an experience, the film offers a certain degree of inspired insanity and a healthy dose of carnival-like madness.

If I was gonna recommend a Bela Lugosi film, other than Dracula, to someone, it would almost certainly be this movie.

By the time the movie actually slowed down a bit, I wondered, "Jesus, does this movie have literally three maybe even FOUR of the scariest scenes in movie history?
