And I loved the side drama of the love interest, the law corruption, the psycho "law"man, the back and forth realization of the "real" law that the psycho lawman had gone too far, and the gathering of the others to try to run to the rescue.

For a movie that originally boasted the cast that it did, and later boasted a cast that was by no means unimpressive, including Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, and Gary Oldman, the film provided very little in terms of characterization for any of the leads.

[i]Lawless[/i] is a powerful film. It has immense purpose and looks at mortality in an intriguing light. More than that, it's constantly looking at family and how far people as a whole would go for their loved ones.
