As the film goes on, it is the silence of Rodrigues as he watches the people who are being tortured and killed on his behalf.

The filming in the jungles of Taiwan, really make this film look special.

The themes of the film is pure Scorsese and it felt visually I was watching a lost film Akira Kurosawa movie.

The film however was very slow and meticulous, unlike the faster pace in some of Scorsese's newer films.
