Though, like the big screen predecessors, there are one or two plot changes when converted to screen, this film makes well with the modern tech and virus paranoia of modern times to make the movie work in terms of storyline.

Will Smith gives a very decent performance of a driven man who's conviction and loneliness has driven him to the edge of sanity, but I found it nigh on impossible to feel any real sense of dread or danger at the cartoon baddies.

In the end, I found myself pining for what this film could and should have been. The new Hollywood, in their rush to use CGI, seems to have forgotten that in order for a story to be truly powerful we, as humans, need to connect to both sides of a conflict.

It has it's fair share of problems, it stars of slow and ends fast. It's a mixed bag, the story is great, but presented on an average form.

Sacrifices a great idea , perfomance from Will Smith , and it's amazing New York landscape : for cheap scares...

Seeing as how he's a little short on co-stars, the film is squarely on Smith's shoulders, and his work as Neville is inspired.
