I'm glad I finally got this movie out of the way, but if I really had to compare it to another movie, I'll compare it to one that also fixates on slow-pacing to deliver moods, lacking story in comparison to other movies of its type, and one that's relatable through realism: Jeanne Dielman.

There are a bunch of strands that Melville could've gone down to expand the story; whether it is the background on Jef's girlfriend (Nathalie Delon), or the true motivations of the piano player that spots him (Caty Rosier).

I read online that Le Samourai has influenced a lot of film makers and their movies.

I love this opening and how it simultaneously shows us the methods of our main character and the mood of our main feature, Le Samoura
