Ever since The Terminator premiered, we have witnessed what the post-Judgment Day future looks like, so maybe a minor nitpick would be that the future we see here doesn't really look like the future we've been shown in all three previous films.

The fact that this was originally intended to be the first film in a trilogy is both amusing and sad - despite what the film tried to convey through Worthington's character's arc, apparently not everyone (or every film) deserves a second chance.

One thing missing from the movie though, are the scenes of the future war that were shown in the first two movies: Dark, skulls everywhere and scores of Terminators fighting at ground level against battered and beaten humans.

It also doesn't really allow the film to match the vivid, nightmarish vision of the future we've been shown in tantalising glimpses in the other Terminator films; particularly in the epic opening to Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

If you’re putting off watching this because of the negative reviews, I’d say that you should still give it a try. I think fans of the Terminator series will appreciate it.
