The fact that this was originally intended to be the first film in a trilogy is both amusing and sad - despite what the film tried to convey through Worthington's character's arc, apparently not everyone (or every film) deserves a second chance.

One thing missing from the movie though, are the scenes of the future war that were shown in the first two movies: Dark, skulls everywhere and scores of Terminators fighting at ground level against battered and beaten humans.

It also doesn't really allow the film to match the vivid, nightmarish vision of the future we've been shown in tantalising glimpses in the other Terminator films; particularly in the epic opening to Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

The name Terminator is synonymous with words like explosion, action, and cyborgs. Terminator Salvation has it all, and its all top-notch; the movie contains battles with Terminators both human-sized and immense, stimulating vehicular chases, and all-out war scenes of epic proportions.

I do wish they couldve followed the original Terminators storyline some more, though, like using the dogs to detect the Terminators.

In their place, Terminator Salvation opts to ignore the third film's recast message, and simply regurgitates a rough version of the second's.

Although, he is not the leader of the resistance yet, so this film is NOT the battles we've been preluded to in the original films, it's what happens before it.
