Aileen's life begins to change when she meets a needy young lesbian named Selby who, inexplicably, falls instantly in love with Aileen and a love affair does come to fruition but Aileen only knows one way to support her new girlfriend.

The performance given here by Ricci may have been overshined enormously by the glorious celebration of Therons no-make-up makeover, but personally I think she reaches the same heights playing Selby, though in a different area, than prostitute turned predator, Aileen.

Selby was never in love with Aileen as much as Aileen was in love with Selby.

I just finished watching Patty Jenkins' film Monster and I'm completely impressed.
