I had put off watching this film for years because I really loved what I read of the book (long boring story: read half of the book but ran out of renewals and just need to reborrow the dang thing!) and was worried at how Hollywood the story would become in a film version.

I'm only trying to see what this movie could give you: entertainment, nice and encouraging story, lesson to life.

While the topic of segregation and civil rights is important and the movie's main focus is to pay homage to these black women pioneers who helped to break the color barrier...the film also doesn't forget to entertain along the way.

The best thing about this film is that it had me feeling a range of emotions which is one of the key things that I look for in any film.

This film focuses on three of these women: Katherine Goble Johnson was pulled from the group to work directly with Al Harrison as sort of a human computer, providing data that was vital to the space program while fighting unabashed bigotry for not only being black but being a woman.
