Kaluuya makes for a charismatic and engaging sounding board for Kate, who is quickly at sea in the legally and morally dubious actions of the task force.

You're watching the Denis Villeneuve-directed Sicario, you've just witnessed a house of horrors knock main character, FBI Agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt), off balance, and you know things are just going to get darker and more desperate.

Both Brolins Graver and Del Toros Gillick are the same vague killing machines they were in minute one of the film.

Brolin, Blunt and Del Toro all do a decent job here.

The film follows the idealistic FBI agent, Kate Macer, and her unnerving journey deep into the criminal underworld of Juarez, Mexico a place where rules, routines and recognized formulas are all nonexistent.

It is grimly realistic film , and it's violence has a stark feel to it .

Josh Brolin is certainly one of the funniest parts of the film, and helps to keep the film from becoming unenjoyably dark.

To this end, the film does a good job balancing ethics against pragmatism for the most part; of course, it still makes Blunt and Kaluuya the most sympathetic characters in the midst of all this, though it has to in order to make the film's events have a significant resonance.
