It feels like the movie trying to connect the dots in terms of why we linger on the bodies and killings of some of the female characters, and I didn't totally buy it.

We get introduced to our main characters within the first few minutes: Counselor Todd, the misunderstood Alfred, Michelle, and cheeky Eddie.

Weinstein claims to have written the film before Friday the 13th, but it's clear that this is a rip-off of that film, in tone, style and presentation.

Like slashers in general The Burning isn't suspenseful or scary in the least and there's no real story (I guess it wouldn't be completely wrong to say that the film is just an excuse for nudity and splatter).
