The weak antagonist aside, the movie also leaves much yearning compared to later superhero movies that offered more depth and substance, but I find it hard to complain about a humble, romantic little movie like this that still gave me quite a good time.

The movies effects are a little primitive by todays standards, though at the time the effects were absolutely cutting edge.

Despite this however I had never seen any of the original four Superman films, including this film which kicked it all off; the granddaddy of all superhero movies.
