In either version, though, not only is The Empire Strikes Back one of the best entries in the Star Wars saga, but one of the best sequels ever.

The entire first meeting sequences is not dignified for the most powerful character in the entire Star Wars universe.

That said, I think Empire Strikes Back falls behind the original Star Wars in one significant way: whereas Star Wars was a very solid, predictable, but excellently presented story, Empire takes a few dips.

The second film released in the Star Wars franchise and in my opinion the best Star Wars film ever made (and also the best film I've ever seen in general, at least in my opinion).

Though I will concede that The Empire Strikes Back is still a film that can't quite stand apart from its predecessor, that hardly seems relevant as it amply builds upon the established world and characters to provide a film that at the very least measures up to one considerably high standard.

In the original script, Han Solo was supposed to say, "Just remember that, Leia, because I'll be back," but at the time of filming, Harrison Ford wasn't entirely certain he did want to come back for a third film.

Being that Star Wars was said to originally be a stand-alone movie, the fact that it was such a huge hit, Lucas decided to expand his idea into a full on franchise and redub Star Wars as Episode IV A New Hope.

Where Indiana Jones is film serial homage to more grounded titles, Star Wars is pure space opera like Flash Gordon.

The Empire Strikes Back is rightfully considered the best film of the whole Star Wars series and contains arguably one of cinema's top 5 most famous scenes of all time.
