Think about how Tarantino has his characters talking about nothing important and yet the dialogue flows like butter...and in what Tarantino's characters say, they give us insight into their lives and that puts flesh on their bones.

Unlike Fargo which can be seen as a dark comedy, The Big Lebowski is more a feel-good film thats style can probably be better compared to an earlier comedy of the Coen Brothers Raising Arizona, a film also which featured John Goodman (who also appeared in the Coen Brothers film Barton Fink).

A man who calls himself The Dude, is embroiled in a mistaken-identity kidnap and embezzlement plot with a millionaire who shares The Dudes real name of Jeffrey Lebowski.

The biggest success of this film are the characters themselves, each with a unique personality and each, dare I say, perfectly cast.

The first half you can't stop laughing the entire time - with the second half still subtly funny , but more focused on the story and characters.
