As each little episode in Paul's nightmare ends, he always seems to go back to the previous episode, which only gets him in deeper trouble and the silliest part is that he goes through all of this because he can't get subway money to get back home.

That's the basic premise of the film and I think it's a thoroughly original one from Scorsese, who seemed to spend the majority of the eighties veering from his usual path of crime / thriller films to make a couple of comedy-dramas.

After Hours received very mixed reviews back in 1985, but it did nab Scorsese the Best Director at Cannes, a nomination for Dunne at the Golden Globes, and it won Best Feature at the very first Independent Spirit Awards.

Not only does this film stand as one of Scorsese's most underrated films, I'd say it's underrated in general.

This movie is a lot of fun , Dunne plays his character so well - you really become attached to him and his quest to get home.
