Well, How to Train Your Dragon in a great kids movie with a lot to like and some stuff to love, but it needed a little work.

It shows in every aspect of the movie: The characters are written realistically: Hiccup's teenage angst feels real, as do Stoick's struggles with raising his weird son, and the day-to-day dynamics between the characters.

It makes How to Train Your Dragon easily the best Dreamworks animated film.

Of course, high expectations are nothing if not difficult to fulfil, and How to Train Your Dragon, good film though it was, didn't quite match my expectations.

How To Train Your Dragon seemed like another animated film that would come and go at the snap of a finger.

Hiccup uses his time with Toothless to learn things about dragons that he can use to impress the rest of the village, and an interesting twist shows us that the dragons' actions serve a larger purpose than the Vikings realize.
