Connor Macgregor Reviews...Scream 2

Seeing as Scream 4 has just crashed into cinemas, i felt it would be appropriate to sit through all the scream films once again to see if they stand out and if Scream 4 stands alongside them. Scream was already reviewed so let's begin with Scream 2.

It has been two years since the tragic events at Woodsboro. Sidney Prescott and Randy Meeks are trying to get on with their lives, and are currently both students at Windsor College. Cotton Weary is out of prison, and is trying to cash in on his unfortunate incarceration. Gale Weathers has written a bestseller, "The Woodsboro Murders," which has been turned into the film, "Stab," starring Tori Spelling as Sidney. As the film's play date approaches, the cycle of death begins anew. Dewey Riley immediately flies out of Woodsboro to try to protect Sidney, his "surrogate sister." But in this sequel to the 1996 horror film, the number of suspects only goes down as the body count slowly goes up!

So there's a lot of things about Scream 2 i like as well as a lot i disliked. First of all, i felt it made sense to move the setting to college because like all teen films, you start with high school and continue with college. I like the development in various characters in the film especially Gale who i think was the most developed and was more mature this time around. Its a bit more jumpy too.

However there are things about Scream 2 i didn't like. The Cast isn't that memorable or well remembered characters. Sidney doesn't feel like the main character and there are deaths in Scream 2 that i was saddened by (YOU KNOW WHO ?). However i was surprised by the identity of Ghostface. It made sense but (SPOILER ALERT) there are two and the other killer didn't make much sense to me.

The Cameos were also very clever like Sarah Michelle Geller, Jada Smith and various others.

Overall, Scream 2 is a steller sequel but dissapoints on quite many levels.
